Re: Three grey Albatross N98TP images!

No, it's not.
N98TP is ex-USAF HU-16B 51-7186 c/n G-243.
The one at Waddi in 2002 was ex-USNavy HU-16C 141262/N7025N c/n G-409.

Re: Apache AH1 Farewell Flypast - 25th March 2024

From photos on Fighter Control, the four Apaches were AH1s ZJ213 and ZJ221, and AH-64Es ZM702 and ZM714.

Re: Enstone 3 March 2024

Many thanks - yes G-CKXY looks like it is the one in the background of your photo of G-BTDE. However I am not yet convinced that this is the one I saw in the workshop - if the one I saw had "371" in large white digits on the side of the fuselage, I think I would have noted it in my logbook...

Re: Enstone 3 March 2024

Many thanks.

What colour scheme is G-CGPY/371 in, in your photo? All the images on-line of G-CGPY show it to be in the US Navy training scheme of yellow overall plus red fuselage band and blue rudder (and coded 671, not 371). Has G-CGPY been repainted in the last couple of years?

Re: Enstone 3 March 2024

Always sad to see the sheer number of aircraft withdrawn from use at Enstone, seems to be some kind of aircraft graveyard. Nice photos though. I had a thorough look around last June and didn't log the JOB-15 D-ECFE and no-one on LAAS had reported it since 2022, so it may not be here any more. I am i...

Re: Albatross N98TP

It has just flown from Southampton and landed at Lee-on-Solent. I think it was airborne for about 7 minutes!

And back to Southampton, airborne for all of 11 minutes this time!

Re: HMS Queen Elizabeth c/w F-35's

I believe she sails in & out on the high tides. On Friday these are at 02:35 and at 14:44. My bet would therefore be mid-afternoon(ish). Usual caveats apply.

Re: HMS Queen Elizabeth c/w F-35's

QE arrived in port late yesterday evening with the eight F-35B on board. She is due to sail back out Friday, with it being just a quick pit-stop to replenish supplies.

As the schedule has two hours from arriving at Barton to arriving at Shawbury, I would say refueling both crew and aircraft was a fair bet!

If we are having a mass line-up of F-16s, please could Belgium include at least one F-16BM? Their twin-seaters have hardly ever attended!

Re: RAF Benson Families Day 31st August 2023

Various Notams list: (a) the flying display 13:15-17:00, (b) parachutes (presumably Red Devils) 13:55-15:10, and (c) Red Arrows flypast at 15:59 en route to Bournemouth. All times are local, i.e. I have added one hour to convert z time in the Notams to BST. Presumablythe Red Devils wide time window ...

Here is this week's flying programme including the families day on Thursday, although this just covers the local Puma and Chinook flying. Add an hour for BST:

Re: RAF Benson Families Day 31st August 2023

I am not aware of anything being published locally yet. They normally advise the surrounding Parish Councils a few days ahead of any unusual noise/activity. Also, their weekly flying programme is usually published each Monday (presumably Tuesday next week because of the bank holiday) so we may get s...

No sign of it outside at 11:00 this morning, nor anywhere on Southampton Water nor the Solent and no sign of it leaving on e.g. Planefinder.net. Hence is it currently hangared at Southampton?

Re: FRIAT Commentary

Perhaps RIAT could investigate the radio earpieces that they use at the cricket so that those in the ground can hear the Sky commentators. I would suggest they would only be deployed in FRIAT, then each individual can chose whether to listen to Ben et al, or not. Obviously any over-riding safety ann...

Re: Security

"Martyn's Law" (named after one of the Manchester bombing victims) was published as a draft late last year and is going through Parliament now. It places a significant burden on organisers of any event that attract more than 100 members of the public, even to an outdoor event like RIAT. Ev...

G550EAW MM62303 is over Turin heading NW.

Presumably these are the two for Fairford this morning.

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

I wonder if there's a windspeed or wind gust limit for an airshow to go ahead or be stopped yeah, what planes would be able to fly in 40mph winds? or does it depend on the direction? Depends on the plane and on how much the direction contributes a cross-wind. It also depends if you are talking 40mp...
