Re: The Historic Helicopters Thread

As mentioned elsewhere, Somerset Air Force, also known as Historic Helicopters, 'take delivery' of 2 ex-Belgian Sea Kings today. Bringing their total to 5(?). I've completely lost track of numbers and types, can we compile a list of their current inventory... Sea Kings x 5 - All airworthy (?) Wessex...

Midlands Air Festival 2022

The (truncated) 2021 display season may be complete, but we can now look forward to what will hopefully be a better 2022! A few weeks ago the Midlands Air Festival began announcing their first participants for the 2022 show which will be held over 3 days on 2-4 June. With Nightfire taking place on t...

Do you know why it's been grounded?
I heard it sufferd a ground accident at North Weald, might have been a runway overrun, can't remember the exact details. It was deemed not worth returning to flight due to the cost.

Rob
Yes, runway 'excursion' which apparently damaged the spar.

Re: The Jet Provost that nobody likes!

Sadly, nobody need concern themselves with this scheme anymore. G-VIVM has been permanently grounded and donated to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection and is likely to be returned to it's ripple scheme. A fine example that a scheme can always be changed, an airworthy and well maintained aircraft ...

Re: Hunter PR11 WT723

How incredibly depressing. Thunder & Lightnings website states: All major components have been removed, the interior is sprayed with anti corrosive oils and the canopy is completely sealed, in the hopes that if times change sufficiently, she could remain viable for a return to flight. Sadly I feel t...

Re: Aeralis Red Arrows?

Wasn't the Eiffel tower only meant to stand for 20 years? Built for the World Fair, purely as a promotional tool. The fact that Hawks are no longer in production and sadly we no longer have an aircraft industry, doesn't mean the Red Arrows don't still serve a purpose. Neither does a display team hav...
