Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

I thought that was down to the length of the runway as much as anything else?? In which case a STOVL aircraft shouldn't struggle too much. The heat produced by the vertical exhausts of the F-35B in STOVL mode means it could cause damage to any blacktop runway. Hence why the Queen Elizabeth-class ai...

They also under the theme section said that they will have current and old Canadian aircraft in the static park. Anyone know of any rare gems over here in Europe that could come ?

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

While I don't personally care if the Raptor comes or not as I've seen it plenty of times, and can easily just drive in to the states and see it...people talking like it's a logistical impossibility are delusional. I think it's unlikely, but as an example, in 2018 for the RCAF hornet to attend, they ...

Re: FRIAT 2023 Seating Plan

One thing I asked some of the other staff last night before doing the podcast - why do so many people seem to prefer the Eastern side of the stand? Is there any particular reason for that? Worried I’m missing a trick! I always preferred the western end cos closer to show centre, and clear of the bu...

Re: RIAT 2023 Stars, in *your* eyes

I'm interested to see the Gripen E, but calling it a star is a bit of a reach for me. I've been significantly soured to the aircraft in general by its rabid fans that insist that it is every other aircraft all at once, only more capable and less expensive, which any logical person can conclude are b...

Of the remaining "in discussions" it might be interesting if a "Brazillian" factory fresh Gripen E attended in some form (in quotes because it would likely still be flown by Swedish test pilots). for all the time I spend picking on the little fighter with outlandish capability cl...

Re: FRIAT 2023 ticket increases discussion

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding...and I can't imagine, given the amount of empty seats still showing in the grand stand, that this is going to be viewed as a success. I could be completely wrong mind you...and I hope I am, as I really want this year to be a great success for RIAT in general.

I believe we're A47-50 this year.

I say I believe because I can't find where on the e-ticket it says it, and I don't have the hard copy as I'm in Canada.

Re: RIAT 2023 wish list

Thats not true...at least not at North American shows. The heritage flight team works up their display at the start of the year. Only certain warbird pilots are officially certified to perform the heritage flights.

The presence of one doesn't necessarily require the other.

Once again...show me an airshow anywhere in the world that is getting anywhere near the level of participation that RIAT draws every year. Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

It's interesting what people consider making RIAT a "good show". For me, it's about quantity and getting a decent return on my money. As it stands, there's only 90 aircraft confirmed (a third of which are civilian owned), some of which won't be there on all three days. Hardly a stand-out ...

Soloturk brings two separate pilots, but actually uses them both.

The other point, which has been mentioned many times, is, that whilst the RAF may not have many different displays, they do perform many displays.
