Re: A-W Meteor NF.14 WS788 Restoration Project

I've been admiring the standard of workmanship and dedication from afar but seeing your 'Wings' binders takes me back a long way. My set is stored in the attic of the house I grew up in as I had no space to store them myself. I must retrieve them on my next visit. Keep up the good work. Its fascinat...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

According to a report published in the Lancet on 5th January, the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 represented just one in four new diagnoses of COVID-19 in September. By mid-December, this had increased to almost two thirds of new cases in London. Even though the proportion of cases caused by the new vari...

Some people can only see the glass half empty while others see it as half full. It's great to hear something positive coming out of Bruntingthorpe after so much negativity in recent months. Lets hope the tide is turning.

I have a feeling that this signals the decline of the big public airshows. I think the UK is likely to follow this format with fewer and fewer big shows.

Re: Shuttleworth 2021 dates announced

I'm looking forward to it already, though a lot of water will have to flow under the bridge between now and May. The two weekend events in September and October could be an interesting format. The October race day flying display is on the Saturday with what I assume is the usual Sunday format of car...

I'm not sure what 'issues' cg_341 is referring to. I only saw one where a museum visitor that happened to have a camera and a tripod but no wristband and therefore hadn't paid, joined the group. Sure, there was weather, but thats life. 5944's mate was incorrect as the Hawk 75 was outside as indicate...

Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020

I have no first hand knowledge of how the CAA charges for events like the Showcase Day, if at all, so I can't comment on what Mike and others have written. However, it was clear in advance that IWM Duxford was compressing the flying as rain had been forecast and I suspect that in order to 'Showcase'...

Re: Race Day - 4th October

The weather forecast for Sunday is currently light showers and a gentle breeze which on its own is not ideal but not too bad. I'm more concerned with the forecast for Saturday with heavy rain and the impact that could have.

Re: Battle Of Britain 80: The Night Shoot

This has now been postponed due to the weather forecast. While it's disappointing, it's also understandable given the weather forecast and I think its the correct decision in the circumstances. I was looking forward to it though, as its probably my last aircraft 'fix' of the season.

Not surprising really, though it is a shame. I think it was a bit late in the season and I'm guessing that finding participants away from OW so late was difficult.

Re: Aero Legends 80th Anniversary Battle of Britain Airshow

I agree with the earlier posts, Sunday was well organised and most people behaved in accordance with the guidelines. Groups stayed in their box in chequerboard fashion and kept the gaps between. The exceptions were the woman that passed close by with her hands in her jacket pockets and had the two m...

I should have added above that there are no toilets in the car park which is not very helpful if you have travelled a long distance.

Yes they seem to be moving people immediately. Just to reinforce what was said yesterday, the toilet situation is a joke by normal standards, forget covid secure standards. A steward told me with a straight face that the nearest toilet was back out the entrance (there's no exit gate) so I had to go...

Re: Aero Legends 80th Anniversary Battle of Britain Airshow

The BBC is showing cloud with a low percentage chance of rain just now. I think the bigger issue will be the wind, both the strength and the temperature, both will be challenging. I'll be relatively happy so long as its stays dry, though I do wonder if we will get much flying with that wind.

Inside the Spitfire Factory

More 4, Monday 28th September 21;00 A new series titled 'Inside the Spitfire Factory' is starting on 'More 4' next Monday.
