Re: RIAT 2019

Did anyone else discover the QinetiQ tracking radar ?. They had one on display near the 'Techno zone' , and on chatting with their representative was told they had another on the airfield , monitoring the displays with a feed to a laptop on their stand inside said techno zone. On visiting the stand ...

Re: RIAT 2019

Don't know if it's been mentioned on here yet, but did the planned satellite photo-shoot of the showground on the Friday actually happen, or was it another victim of the weather? Yes Brevet , they took a contingency image on Thursday at approx 11am. I don't know how to paste a link yet , but you ca...

Re: RIAT 2019

harking and play it cool , glad you both got to see the B-52 depart , I should have had a little more faith that it wouldn't sneak out 'out of hours'.
Sorry I meant harkins , should have checked the spellcheck

Re: RIAT 2019

And it was worth waiting until nearly 17:00hrs for the B-52to depart. Highlight of the weekend for me! Just hope I’ve got all those bloody tiny bugs off my skin, hair, bags, camera... Damm , I waited till about 4.20 , figuring they'd chuck us out at half past . Did they keep the P&V open or did...

Re: RIAT 2019

Nice pics of the Viper , thanks Go4long , I wondered what the issue was and a shame we didn't get to see that awesome demo again. One of the highlights for me today was getting inside the NATO Sentry , again great , informative crew and well worth the rather lengthy wait. Another was taking my mates...

Re: RIAT 2019

Great day today , seriously not one display that I didn't enjoy. Nice to get super close to the Belgian F-16s for start up and taxi in the mini 'active pan' at the extreme west end and nice to get a couple of passes with the D-Day tails before the 'dark falcon' display proper. Quite a few open aircr...

Re: RIAT 2019

If it was something this the Beluga XL or A380, then why keep it a secret? They’d sell more tickets by announcing it and it’s not like it’s ‘sensitive’ information or anything... IF another flypast happens on Sunday I’ll put money on it being the B-2 again, or a U-2. I wasn't really thinking about ...

Re: RIAT 2019

I was thinking about the 'Reads with a bigger plane flypast' way back in this thread (not the BOAC 747 thing) , then I was wondering where the Beluga XLs might be come sunday .

Re: RIAT 2019

To be honest ,I'm really looking forward to the Friday . There's plenty of time to have a look round the static with reduced crowds , we've got the Nato flypast , 2 of the 3 'star items' , the Airbus satellite photo op and the 'pit area'. It's been clear from the start that Friday has a reduced flyi...

Re: RIAT 2019

I agree with harkins, RIAT does look rubbish this year. I can't see how you can possibly agree with me as what you're agreeing with was from when I misquoted myself. And what is more, I now frankly have absolutely no idea whether I even agree with what was said that I said as I don't know whether I...

If the Firebird is coming by road , then where might it be coming from ? I'm sure someone on this forum is more clued-up than myself on these matters . Thanks .

Re: RIAT 2019

Good to see confirmation of the Firebird .

One of the many , single most unique aircraft at RIAT , performing it's wildly anticipated it's signature first debut .

p.s. If your organisation is looking for a social media liaison officer , I am available .

Re: RIAT 2019

Is there any height limit for the fairground rides ? I'm thinking a ' Star Flyer' Chair-a-plane style ride would be nice , the name fits both with the space theme and with aviation generally , plus you'd get some good photos from 100m up . Wishing for a fairground ride, i've honestly seen it all on...

Re: RIAT 2019

Yes . I thought we might get a WB-57 ; it's my understanding that there are 3 in service ,occasionally deploying through UK . I think they are used a high altitude 'comms hubs' where the US might be deployed , so not necessarily restricted to flying about Edwards AFB. Apologies if my information is...

Re: RIAT 2019

I’m all seriousness, did anyone ever think we’d get a NASA operated aircraft to attend? SOFIA or their DC-8 would have been most likely, but only if they were in the area on ops at the time and could spare a few days. (Maybe that’s the Sunday flypast? )[/quote] Yes . I thought we might get a WB-57 ;...

Re: RIAT 2019

That's pretty fair. I guess for some though, it is still the only chance to see one doing a bit as sadly popping to Mildenhall and especially Ramstein is not something that can be done readily - I really wish it was, but without getting a divorce I am in no position to be disappearing to Mildenhall...

Re: RIAT 2019

Yeovilton looks very good this year. Super Hornets, P180M Avanti, MS.760 Paris, CM.175 Zephyr,Br.1050 Alize, Mi-8 and much more looks very decent. I hope RIAT can steal a few of these aircraft and keep hold of them until the show is over You can see the P-180 a few times a week operating out of Glo...
