Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - Cancelled

Finally got email notification of refund for my Friday proms tickets, thanks to the team who are clearly wading through a huge pile of them!

Re: Shuttleworth 2021 dates announced

Checking my 2019 records, it was around £25 if prebooked before the day for the military airshow and flying festivals. It was only the flying proms which was £36. I wonder if we're going to see large groups of "pedestrians" being dropped off at the gate? :D I think that the new pricing is a reasonab...

Re: Shuttleworth 2021 dates announced

Shuttleworth have responded on the Flying Circus tickets:

"Ticket prices are correct, slight error in the description it should read 'the adult ticket will go up to £42 and the SVAS ticket will go up to £38'"

Seems to be aiming for a replacement to the proms event with increased pricing accordingly.

Re: Shuttleworth 2021 dates announced

The prices are wrong on the Flying Circus event, hopefully they'll be corrected soon.

The move to cheaper prices for single visitors like me means I'll be able to attend more shows next year, very much looking forward to it already!

Re: Proposed New Luton Airport arrival routes

It might make things a bit more difficult for the Reds if they revisit as they typically approach Old Warden from the Biggleswade side to perform parts of their displays.

What if a young child runs towards you, do you sprint away from them?
The same as I'd do in a supermarket or in the street, avoid them as best I can without one of us falling over and get on with life?

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

you are correct in people should take their own precautions. i think the biggest issue will be what the government consider a mass gathering. i'm not sure whether gatherings of 15,000 people (not including staff and "social distancing champions") could class as not being a mass gathering. It's no d...

Re: 15th August - Magnificent Musical Flying Display

Price is governed by vehicle parking space, so don't think you'd get a 48-seater into the Oversize space :D Also future shows are charging additional passenger fees beyond the first 2 :) "Standard car parking space at 5x5m for vehicles up to 2m high and 2.5m wide. Oversize parking space 4.5 x 8m for...

Re: 15th August - Magnificent Musical Flying Display

It was £120 which is a lot of money for sitting in a damp field, so I ask what did people who actually attended get for that money? The house was open for guided tours and the Swiss Garden was open for people to wander around. They had vintage bus tours going too and were driving some of the collec...

Re: 15th August - Magnificent Musical Flying Display

So.... apart from a radio broadcast, what did people get for their £120? With respect I'm guessing they got exactly the same as they would have done at any airshow where the weather had curtailed flying, I'm not sure why the ticket price would have any bearing on what they got? As has been mentione...

Re: Sunday 2 August – Drive-in Airshow (At the Movies)

That was jolly good fun, loved the huey and the bell. Benefits of being sat by your car meant that I could lock my gear up in it to wander off for a comfort break without any issues, along with easy access to snacks and other drinks without worrying about jostling for position as everyone had to do ...

15th August - Magnificent Musical Flying Display

Looks like a replacement Flying Proms event has been organised as a drive-in:

https://www.shuttleworth.org/events/mag ... ngdisplay/

£120 per car :scream_cat:
Too strong for me as a single visitor for a pyro display, some singing and some fireworks, will pass.

Re: 2020 drone laws

I'm non-plussed about the registration fee and operator / flyer registration etc as in the grand scheme of things it's tiny. I'm much more interested in whether the CAA alignment with these new rules will affect the current requirement for PfCO and whether it disappears entirely. The approach at the...

Re: Jessops in to Administration

Peter Jones was quoted as saying that things in-store would be the same as prices on-line,yet I've seen lenses etc cheaper than Jessops prices in other on-line outlets." I think Peter meant that there would be price parity between the Jessops shops and the Jessops website. Not the utterly daft...

Flickr on the other hand is a repository. i wouldn't use it if it wasn't for the fact i already have so much stuff embedded away from it One of the main reasons the new owners gave to justify the free usage cap and pushing the subscription model was that they wanted to build more of a community aro...

Thanks for the well written review. I did wonder about the interval pyrotechnics so thanks for shedding some light on that.
