Really decent piece in the BBC today: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54228649

When the dust has settled, if it ever does, I hope Carl Heneghan is bought a couple of pints for being the voice of reason in all this.

Its not the most exciting scheme in the world, but at least its something different.

Presumably the idea is that its a hi-viz scheme?

Its so unbelievably good to see a photo set from an international military show this year, even if I never had a hope of attending!

Dust spots aside, a lovely record of shots that really the thrill of fast jets. And how good does that Gripen E camo look!? Fingers crossed for the UK next year.

Re: Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

They have apparently been angling for a long while for all airshows to cease on the site. I find this surprising. Surely they make a lot of money from the May/September shows? It is very sad news. Personally I am not a regular attender of Legends as i'm more interested in jets than anything else; b...

Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

Absolutely gutted for the organisers - and the hobby at large. No increase in deaths, no clear increase in cases (more randomised tests is obviously going to find more cases) and still the event is cancelled. I just don't get it.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

So we have the apparent first case of a recovered patient being re-infected. This throws cold water on the herd immunity theory and makes the quest for an effective vaccine even more urgent. He was asymptomatic. This shouldn't be a cause for concern. https://twitter.com/VirusesImmunity/status/12978...

If it gets pulled I will be a little angry to be honest - things regarding the virus have steadily improved since they announced the airshow, and if their plans are not viable - they never would have been.

Fingers crossed it will all go ahead though!

Re: Vintage Air Day Sun 6th Sep

I never fail to be amazed at the attitude of some of those who call themselves enthusiasts. The one venue anywhere in Europe that has managed to successfully stage airshows this summer, and at twenty-odd quid a head they are accused of ‘milking it’, being ‘really expensive’ and ‘an insult’, and sug...

Hi Vandal, Hopefully these articles will allay your fears slightly. Unfortunately there are tragic cases where children succumb to almost any kind of disease - but in the main children are simply not at risk from Covid. Certainly less so than influenza if you are looking at CFR (and this is a new vi...

I agree with you Iain - but only if things get worse. The issue is not that people are illiterate of the news - it is that journalists are illiterate of data. The BBC reporting has been absolutely contrary to the data. The fact remains though that, mercifully, excess deaths remain below average and ...

I'm a regular at Mildenhall and always go to John's field, but I thought i'd try the Mound the other day.

If I found the right place it seems to be surrounded by trees. Is this the Mound or did I get lost?

I remember this well. Anybody that experienced the 90s and early 2000s RIATs knows not to take anything for granted; which is perhaps why i'm often found guilty of being overly enthusiastic regarding RIAT's recent shows. I loved RIAT '02 of course, but i'd pick '17, '18 or '19 over it in terms of qu...

So heartening to me that enthusiasm is high enough for airshows that this show can sell out without a participation list. Admittedly, numbers will have been capped, but it brings a smile to my face!
