Re: Anatoly Nikolayevich Kvochur

What a legend. You never really know - but it seems likely he saved the crowd at Paris from catastrophe as well by delaying his ejection until pointing cleanly at the ground.

RIP

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Obviously the end of a tyrannical theocracy would be great for the Iranian people, but I have often dreamed about the possible airshow advantages of that particular country returning to enlightenment values...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Very pleased with the Jordanian vipers - although not sure why anyone would prefer a grey Hercules over a lovely sandy camo one?

Good memories of the Blue Eagles as well, and the old Boeing Apache displays at Farnborough, not to mention the year(s?) the Ka-50 turned up!

Anyone who blanketly disparages heli displays obviously never saw the Czech Hind team in the '90s!

Very glad it's appearing, but I do wish we were getting the typhoon all weekend! Just need some afterburner for Saturday to keep the noise levels up...

The Tracker was a total surprise. No idea it was even a possibility, so i'm thrilled with that.

Does anyone know if its staying in its firefighting colours, or is there a chance of return to USN glory?

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

Its almost like when their list FDD left the post everything went to pot.......

I won't be going to Cosford this year - first time in a very, very long time.

Decided to spend my money on Midlands instead which, even if they announce nothing else, has a terrific line up.

Ordered my 3 day tickets today, with camping. Really looking forward to this!

Fingers crossed for some more fast jets (perhaps the Typhoon and Red Arrows) but the Draken, F-86, Bo-105, DC-6, B-25, P-38 already make this an incredible line up!

I really wouldn't worry JMC. I mean the Saudi Air Force had a huge attendance on the ground last year and I only saw positivity. I think Israel is a bit less controversial as a nation?

Lovely review, despite the melancholic end. This was my first Belgian airshow and I really enjoyed it. Such a shame it looks to be the last BAFD.

Re: Duxford flying finale

I was glad to be out at an airshow in October, but after the last couple of years of excellent Autumn flying days I thought this show was, frankly, rubbish. Highlights were the four fighters at the end and the JP, but otherwise I found the entire display to be pretty lacklustre. Fingers crossed for ...

'Join us on Saturday 14 October for an extra special Duxford Flying Finale'. It does not look extra special to me right now - based on last year I bought a ticket - I hope I don't feel conned at the end of the day... Quite... Massive disappointment. I wonder why they've struggled so much this year.

Same here... the picture of the Typhoon was used on the ticket link for quite a while so I was taken in by the implication...

No more tickets before the participants are announced at Duxford for me!

Re: Folkestone Air Display 2023

Really enjoyed the display and hope to return next year. Unfortunately we didn't know where the "show" area was and watched by the harbour arm with no PA.

The only downside was the enormous gaps between display items. I didn't really understand that!

Its not that different to last years line-up, apart from the Typhoon, Swiss and TFC warbirds missing.
Typhoon and Swiss were raaather significant participants in my opinion!
