Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The other thing I see is if some random person phones you and tells you to isolate for two weeks, then would you? Especially if it meant losing two weeks wages for what could be no reason at all . If you could get a test to find out then I am sure more people would take notice. And that right there...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

They're only 'some random person' if you're an idiot though, surely? If you're not, and you actually want to help stop the spread of this thing before it (possibly/probably) gets out of hand again, then you'll listen to the NHS test and trace operative and self isolate. i think what he is saying is...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The App works on a defined list of tested phones available here: https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01167/en-us As with the original failed NHS App, it doesn't work on my iPhone 5S, nor interestingly the latest Huawei smartphones. that may be because the latest huawei phones don't have as tight ...

Saw an interview with Mr Microsoft himself Bill and Wife talking about covid19 mk2 sayimg it will be far worst than what we have seen so far, he even finished his speach off with a distasteful smurk at the end - dont think its anything funny to smurk/smile about. Bill Gates has done more good in th...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Shutting the pubs/restaurants earlier will make no difference at all other than a bad one where they'll be more people leaving at closing time and heading to public transport, whereas if open til the early hours there is a staggered going home of people. interestingly, I was in Turkey last week and...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Serious doubts this will go ahead now as gatherings of more than 6 to be banned from Monday. I mean they haven't changed the rules on weddings and such, just that you can't meet on groups of 6 or more. You could argue it's no different to going to the park but it would mean breaking groups up. Whet...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Two days running, new Covid infections at around 3000 per day. Wondering if anyone is reconsidering going? I am having to take a long hard look at this, as I have a busy week with Guests following on from the Tuesday after... I read this morning that the government are contemplating reducing weddin...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

But I don’t really have sympathy for those who go on holiday *now* - everyone now knows the rules, the quarantine period, and that it is subject to swift change and enforcement (which is good). It’s a risk you take when you go on holiday, and for people not to discuss and clear that with their empl...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

I don't think any of the TFC stuff is serviced or has the approval to display this year so I suspect they are out. And I also suspect they don't feel incentivised to do anything about that! That's something I've been pondering myself, we may not only have lost legends at Duxford but also the TFC fl...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

To those asking the question about how the IWM got permission to hold the airshow, Government guidelines allow it happen. The guidelines state that "with the exception of large sporting events, guidelines allow for outdoor events to take place that are organised by charitable organisations provided...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

I sincerely hope that the IWM management have put a lot of thought and effort into making the airshow "COVID Secure" and introducing measures to make social distancing manageable along the crowdline. It's all well and good creating the extra space and limiting ticket number but that's simply lip se...

Re: Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

The tweet was promptly removed yesterday I believe. Tried to find it to look through some of the comments but it was gone. i think she probably meant that IWM is a war museum first and aviation second which in that case she is largely correct. however, what she said was foolish. it was one of those...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

How many other aircraft are active this year for them to book? Many operators are having ground insurance only and not flying their aircraft. The list basically consists of the ARCo/HFL-operated aircraft, plus BBMF and the Reds. I don't think any of the TFC stuff is serviced or has the approval to ...

Farce & inept are two of the most apt words to describe the running of most councils that I've had to deal with in the last 40 years working in the construction industry.

Re: Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

Reading between the lines of the IWM press release, I would say that they wanted more money flowing back to them than TFC were willing to pay. They talk of exciting changes to their own Air Show programme for next year... Also, sounds like somewhere else found Covid to be a very good reason / excus...

Re: Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

I was always under the impression that airshow revenue was an essential element of Duxford's budget. Is this no longer the case? (Understandable of course that Legends might be less valuable to IWM than their own shows) likewise. would be interesting to see how their membership scheme would be impa...

So we have the apparent first case of a recovered patient being re-infected. This throws cold water on the herd immunity theory and makes the quest for an effective vaccine even more urgent. He was asymptomatic. This shouldn't be a cause for concern. https://twitter.com/VirusesImmunity/status/12978...

Is the current exams debacle this government's poll tax? Seems to be causing across the board misery and unfairness. I suspect they are storing up a lot of votes for Labour from current 18, and probably 16 , year olds who will vote for anybody but the Tory candidate at the next election. Given the ...
