According to the FAQ section on the RIAT site, opening times for FRIAT are :
Weds - Closed
Thursday - 8.00 - 17.00
Friday - 7.30 - 17.30
Saturday - 7.30 - 19.00
Sunday - 7.30 - 19.00

Re: FRIAT 2024

Looking at doing FRIAT this year, but want to take my daughter on the Sunday & not go into the grandstand that day. It won't allow me to get a child ticket because it states "A relevant ticket must be purchased alongside this ticket" Anybody else had this problem? Tried ringing but no...

Re: FRIAT 2024

Morning, how does the left luggage system work at the FRIAT enclosure? Are they lockers or a secure storage area? On the Friday I'll be coming straight from home so will have a bit of luggage as well as camera gear. you may want to consider leaving luggage in the car, given that its probably going ...

Re: Duxford Summer Airshow - 1st & 2nd June 2024

odd one today. i don't usually do the summer airshow anymore because it is normally packed with filler (for me) acts, but the idea of the Daks, Sabre and Bulls pulled me in this year. don't get me wrong, the flying was as usual excellent, but i think a lot was promised, and for various reasons it wa...

The Saturday was excellent. A lot of interesting visiting aircraft, military vehicles and reenactors.
Sunday was quite the opposite

Re: Duxford Summer Airshow - 1st & 2nd June 2024

Looking at the list of what will be at Duxford next weekend, is it me or does it seem a little... slim? I'm there on the Saturday and, if you leave out the Red Bulls, the Rafale and (three?) C-47s it doesn't seem to have the makings of a classic. Perhaps I'm expecting too much. It's a typical summe...

Re: D-Day Squadron 2024

Went today, something of a disappointment. thought the same on Sunday tbh. apart from the 4 daks, one which was closed off and had the rain covers on, it really wasn't anything else outside of a museum day. felt like there should have been more on around the site but like they didn't bother to show...

Re: Duxford Summer Airshow - 1st & 2nd June 2024

Something to do with caa regulations meaning they can’t operate with parachutists from north Weald so will have to collect them on the ground at duxford. But I’m also reading it might not even be the whole collective of Dakota’s at least coming over on the Saturday now? Pegasus, TAB and Placid Lass...

Re: Duxford Summer Airshow - 1st & 2nd June 2024

back for Summer airshow a few weeks before the D-Day 75th we got 2x F15s to open the Sunday, shame nothing like that has been announced. i don't think that flypast was ever part of an official announcement. anything from the USAF normally comes as a bonus on the day or a rumour starts floating a fe...

Re: Duxford in a Different Light: D-Day 80 - 29th May 2024

Nice list, but £90 really is extortionate - and middle of the week makes it pretty difficult for me to attend. I’ve not been to any of the Duxford nightshoots yet and sadly it looks like I will be keeping it that way. normally i'd agree with you, but i guess it comes down to if people are willing t...

Re: Camera Searching

Should I go with a mirrorless camera, or should I stick with a DSLR? I know mirrorless cameras are still slow partially due to lots of lag through the monitor which is not ideal for airshow photography. I also guess it is still down to cost. My budget is around £2k but can push further if there are...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Regarding the Harrier - spare jets are not normally announced as participants are they? I'm pretty sure for example that the RAF Typhoon brings a spare jet that isn't listed as coming. i think they only announce and act is flying or static, so normally spares are bundled into the "flying act&q...

I spoke to Wendy on Friday; she confirmed that FRIAT members just need to show their FRIAT pass to collect their daily flying programmes and the free gift will be issued from the FRIAT marquee using the same methodology. Both are still included in your FRIAT ticket. Cheers, Peter not going to lie, ...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Maybe next year will be better. It can’t get much worse :) so because the French aren't flying this year is a write off? They are sending the CD to Cosford and the Rafale to Duxford, so we can't say they are not supporting the UK airshow scene. If people want to see them, they can go support these ...

Not only that, but if it’s french themed, could it be that the D-day Squadron gets confirmed as it was on their schedule? Just a thought i'm not sure how many will actually be left at that point as they are scheduled to return home on the 21st of June and be back at base by 28th June. i suspect any...

Also I wonder if the crazy SoloTurk commentator is back this year?

I remember in 2018 he was absent and was sorely missed!
didn't he leave the commentary team to go to pilot training?

Re: FRIAT 2024

It says we “may” lose access, not “will”, but I agree. I’m not sure how that makes a difference from a security point of view at all. Everyone passes through the same gate/checks. It’s just that FRIATers get to go through that entrance up to those security gates 30 mins early, and then the punters ...
