Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

That update is going to leave anyone only going on Friday very sour. Given that it's the 80th anniversary of D-Day it's almost a shame they can't bring the Dakota and a repeat of the Trenchard Formation from (?) 2018. Dakota is still in the ARCo shop getting repaired i believe. I think it is due ba...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Thank you for the replies, one last question from me … I’m not too fussed about being at the front for arrivals and departures, but how cramped does it get ? I don’t mind sitting/standing just back from the front. I’m not a photographer so don’t need to have the perfect view or angle there's usuall...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Apologies if this has already been covered. Never done arrivals or departures before. I have tickets for the Thursday and Monday. It says the opening times are 7.30am for both days. Is it similar to the show days when the car parks open earlier? Or is it people queuing on the road until the car par...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

I didn't realise you could turn up and buy tickets on the day. If I don't manage to get tickets then I I'll try the location next to the crash gate. Thank you for your replies. I'm gutted that I missed out on the Monday ticket but didn't realise that you could buy at the entrance. In your experienc...

Re: FRIAT 2024

On Friday the aircraft in red and blue areas are in place so you can walk to FRIAT from the car parks. Green zone is still live so to get from the green car park you use the internal shuttle bus. On Monday FRIAT run a walking bus across from blue gate only to get into the stand. Morning is ok becau...

i'd be very surprised to see a lineup of Dakotas. if we do see them, i suspect it will be "night fright" or the UK based ones with a stand. i can't see the american ones still being here by then

The Sabre is a great addition. Outside of the DC-6 the others are a bit like seaside acts, but the bulls, sabre and d-day squadron make up for it

Re: FRIAT 2024

I know, I'm just talking about Sat/Sun. I always drive to P&V. What is access like by car to blue entry? Hard standing for parking? And it looks like a bit of a hike to get from bus drop-off to blue entry gate. blue is a field so no hardstanding, it was muddy last year, but not horrible. its no...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Personally I thought it was the worst parking of aircraft in the loop I can recall this year, with the Harriers Phantom and Fitter all too head on to the barrier. They need a small angle and it also makes them more friendly to the light at the start and end of the day, we are trying to watch the fl...

Some of the drivel you read on here at times A-10/F-22/F-35/Thunderbirds being boring....
amazing how people wish to talk them down. if they came over they would be star items.
i'd happily see an A-10 of F-22 do a couple of flybys because its not something you are going to see all that regularly

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

RIAT 22 peed all over RIAT 2011 and 2013. Different strokes for different folks clearly. Agreed but those shows are low bars. I thought it was some sensational participation. Swedes, A-4, and an E-4B all in the air on the Friday. Not counting the trainers; flying displays from the Black Eagles, Aus...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

A trainer themed show being dominated by the most numerous trainer on the planet, and that’s an issue. Right. It was - 2022 was the worst IAT flying display I have seen and I started going in 77. Yes you can have your Airshow every year and like Cosford it will sell out. I disagree with you on the ...

does feel like something must be broken at this point. hope they get it sorted soon so we can just get it sorted

i'd take that painted NATO E-3 and something like a C-5. i know its not trendy, but the amount of tankers and heavies on the ground this year really added something for me The painted NATO E-3 has been repainted a couple of months ago and due for retirement even that's a shame. in that case i'll ta...
