Re: Blow-out

Compressor stall by the looks of it... Used to make us pucker a bit in the test cell!

Re: USMC F-35B Down

100k+ flying hours and twelve years and this is the first actual crash, not withstanding the aforementioned engine failure and refuelling near miss and the nose gear problem recently. Surely that has got to be one of the greatest achievements with a new jet? Comparible with predecessors... How many ...

Re: 2018 Security

The thing that niggles is that they have the lady on the tannoy preaching after every other display about how much our security means to them, while they allow a massive crowd of people to gather outside the red gate; an incredibly soft target, before the all important security checks that never hap...

Re: Weather

Completely agree, the last few years I have spent watching through the lens and for what? A load of files saved to my hard drive. I've taken very few photos today of arrivals and have enjoyed it so much more already.

Re: 09 arrivals

Thanks for the information. We are going in to the show on Friday and Saturday anyway, we usually just sit in the campsite at Whelford and watch stuff arrive overhead, however if the other end is in use it would be a quiet few days. I've never been to park and view as we always do the above. Is it o...

09 arrivals

We usually camp at Whelford but with the current forecast suggesting 09 in use, what's the situation with viewing arrivals from that end? Is there a dedicated area? We'll be on foot/pushbike so car parking isn't an issue. Just don't want to sit for three days in the campsite and not see anything arr...

Re: Whelford End - spotting from Pavement being blocked for

It's a very sensible decision and long overdue. I did panic for a moment thinking that access would be completely blocked thus requiring a drive round the corner from Flyby to access the show on Friday and Saturday!

Re: Whelford End - spotting from footpath being stopped for

So the way I'm reading it is that if you walk in to the show from Flyby camping/Whelford village you'll be diverted through the hedge, parallel with the existing cycle path, then back out to access the show?

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2018 - [Main Topic]

Certainly saw the worse in people in the fields to get out today: rudeness, shouting, running about, speeding across the fields... I saw one ape get out of his car, physically tear the orange fence in half just so he could barge his was across the emergency lane and into the next field, only to get ...

Re: First F35s to Marham 5th June

Weather may well be fine up in the air but don't forget the sea conditions have to be considered should a rescue operation need to deploy. A single engine jet in trouble over an ocean with thirty foot waves isn't terribly inviting for a pilot in the bang seat or the chap dangling from the winch rope...
