Re: Eastbourne 2023

I'll be going as always. My first airshow in 1998 and now a shadow of what has been in previous years; NL F-16 Mirage Jag 2 Tonkas KC135 B1 Harrier Nimrod even a DHL 757! I wonder if Bournemouth has now taken a lot of the forces' involvement as well as having a nearby tarmac runway rather than Shor...

Re: A-W Meteor NF.14 WS788 Restoration Project

Great update, and very poignant with the Lancaster memorial section. It is so good to know that they are looked after so well by the locals.
For a bit of completeness, your Pakistan AF Hercs are both former Belgian examples, hence their presence on your departure from Belgium.

Tunisian T-6C Texans on delivery through Bournemouth 13/5/23

On Saturday I was lucky enough to get access to the visiting T-6Cs on their way to Tunisia. Thanks to all the staff and crews involved that made it possible https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52899099172_435b2fae84_h.jpg DSCF1979-1 by MSPhotography , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

Every year that I have done west they have come along the queue scanning tickets before the gates have been opened. That person has been followed close behind by someone else selling/scanning the remaining 'day' tickets to those requiring them. I have never witnessed anyone being let in for nothing ...

Has anyone criticising the size/content of the flypast even considered that the future King may not actually want a huge flypast given the fact that he has been beating the green/conservation drum for many many years?

Felt sure I'd caught the Gripen operating over this Country - usual Devon/Cornwall area the Alphajet tends to work in.
ETPS marked Gripen has been to RIAT recently(ish) too.

(even though puma should never have been bought in the first place, should have gone with UH-60 back then) That would have been a bloody wonderful bit of magic by MOD Procurement, given that the Puma entered RAF service several years before the UH-60 first flew and almost 10 years before it first e...

If stories/comments elsewhere are correct, all 3 of them ( XV666, XZ920, ZA166 ) are now all in Ukr. Surprised 'Damien' was sent, as that's the one HeliOps have been using until very recently. Wonder how long it'll be before the Rus propagandists pick up on that particular airframe, given their oft...

The 1 mile exclusion zone only counts up to 1500ft so as long as you don't bust that you can over fly, these are from a previous carrier visit, USS George H W Bush: https://live.staticflickr.com/4394/36699473842_e124cf86a6_k.jpg GHWB (5) by MSPhotography , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/436...

Wow! That is disgraceful, the punter isn't being offered anything that they couldn't do themselves for a fraction of the cost with one of the tour companies at the harbour. I cannot believe people are actually going to pay that! I can do a flight in a Cessna with friends for less than that for aeria...

Typhoon and Firebirds dusk displays were superb, reheat from the Typhoon lit up the sky. All the crowd did a Coldplay with their phones at the end of the Firebirds, apparently it was spontaneous on Friday but rehearsed last night. The ''Coldplay with phones'' bit on the Friday was at the request of...

Re: Displaying with drop tanks - why?

When solo jet display aircraft arrive with drop tanks guess its sometimes easier to fly the display with them because they dont have ground crew with the correct equipment to remove them ? Surely the pilot can just press a button to get them off 🙈 They could make it a party game! Peg the Droptank t...
