Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

We are all at risk of contracting the virus, severity of symptoms and likelihood of mortality increases with existing health issues and age, inaccurate to state that for those under 70 this is nothing more than an inconvenience. Tell that to the reportedly healthy 37 year old British diplomat who di...

Re: RIAT 2020

Aside from the efforts DBH are making to manage the situation, and the disease mitigation being imposed in the UK, the event obviously relies upon commitment / advanced planning / logistics from air arms in many countries who currently have greater priorities such as Italy, France, USA, who normally...

Re: Yeovilton 2020

I've never been to RNAS Yoevilton, but I'm thinking about it this year for a change. One more interesting item on the flying list might swing it. I saw the Mi-171/Mi-35 role demo at SIAF last year, very good in my opinion as they both have a lot of presence together, the Hind solo display was basica...

Re: My 2019 - Invasion stripes and some Cold War jets/helos

Thanks Steve, my budget is limited to a second hand bridge camera at the minute, the pros are being cheap, lightweight, compact, big zoom range, the cons are small sensor and fiddly manual settings and when I’ve tried slowing the shutter speed to blur props I’ve had issues with image quality despite...

My 2019 - Invasion stripes and some Cold War jets/helos

The most frustrating memory of 2019 at the time was the weather, and my airshow year got started with a soaking at Daks over Duxford, then my local show at Sunderland was thoroughly scuppered by low ceiling and grot, and the season ended with another soaking at Duxford on the Sunday of the Battle of...

Re: XV404 Tiger Phantom

I think there were black intake blanks in the nice press photos but if you look at some of the photos of her 'retirement' after stripping it does look like black painted intake surfaces as well. It makes sense, if I was doing the painting and wanted it to look right the standard grey in the intakes ...

Re: Jet Fest - North Weald 27-29 September 2019

It could have been a great end to the season. I offered my weekend ticket (worth £17) for free on here on Friday as I couldn’t face driving down from Durham under the circumstances but there were no takers, and by the sound of it even people with low expectations were disappointed. It could have bee...

Re: Jet Fest - North Weald 27-29 September 2019

G-DLFN hasn't left Leeds East for North Weald today as far as I know (not heard it anyway, and trust me I normally would!) and runway 06/24 is now closed for a music festival until Monday Drat! Unfortunately that becomes a showstopper for me, the justification for a 540 mile round trip was Soviet e...

Looking forward to seeing the Delfins flying! Sorry fella - I think one of them's gone tech although DLFN should be airbourne. NOTE - the Puma arrival is now reported as being 0900 tomorrow (originally 1000). Cheers for the info, fingers crossed for DLFN then. As the saying goes any L-29 in the sky...

Any feedback on travel from the north down the A1 and A14 would be appreciated. I have read the website, but I would be lying if I said I was totally clear on ilthe implications. Phil Traffic from north ok at 0800 this morning, A1M reduced to single lane approaching J14 but traffic kept moving and ...

It sure can be, as most people can testify, thankfully this was just a cheap day out on an island with some nice folks and a bunch of interesting historic planes buzzing around so could have been worse!

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist

I’ve seen eight individual SwAFHF displays this year (not intentionally it just worked out that way) inc the two seater Viggen three times and have to say the Southport display was the least impressive of all of them, on a good day though when the pilots are allowed to show off the aircraft’s capabi...

Jersey Silhouette Display 19

Jersey Air Display has a reputation for challenging photography conditions, even on a good day, and I wasn’t disappointed. Anyone in the bay watching the practice displays/validations in the morning probably got some nice shots but when EasyJet eventually got us there >2 hrs late that ship had saile...

My first time at Southport, drawn in by the strong historic jet participation, I bought two early bird tickets intending to do both days but skipped today and did Cosby instead. Viggen will show Typhoon up.Seen it at Jersey. Considering its age its remarkable. Quote [What's the Viggen like sound-wise?
