FLUX 12 reported as 60-0024, FLUX 11 as 60-0008, both thanks to Ollie on FC.

Re: Possible BTF - RAF Fairford - October/November
FLUX 11 diverting to Mildenhall for anyone over that way, needs to burn fuel for an hour first. Reason for divert not known
Updated 15:24 - might be going to FFD after all, apparently the heavy weight, braking distance and wet runway are the reasons for uncertainty reported on FC

CMB578 B777 from Barksdale AFB heading down past Birmingham currently on the way in to FFD.
Hopefully if the personnel are coming in today the B-52's won't be too far behind.

From their website, the ANG C-130 water drop has been removed (not surprising given the wildfires), but on the bright side they've added a B-1 from Edwards and a Grumman Albatross for flypasts so swings and roundabouts really.
I only booked the flights last minute, looking forward to this one!

Re: How did you become a Aviation Enthusiast?
Being taken to the local airshows by my dad in the late 70’s/early 80’s (Tollerton, Leicester airport, Swinderby, Waddo). The feeling of awe watching the front line jets of that time doing a full display. Leicester was particularly good, I have some awful photos but happy memories of F-111’s, German...

Re: Little Gransden Air & Car Show - 25th August 2024
<t>Another thumbs up from me, my first time at LG, the show had a relaxed feel and the flying as described by Mike was very enjoyable despite it being a bit cold and breezy, some of the landings looked a bit hairy in the crosswinds. The F-14 display was surprisingly impressive!<br/> <br/> When I saw...

A few nice participants but the Met Office forecast is predicting 37-39mph south-westerlies in the afternoon, so some of them might not make it.
I'll flip a coin later and let that decide!

Re: RIAT 2025
The weather definitely played a part, I think the main reason for disappointment was allowing expectations to get carried away, the wish for a mass Hawk formation had been mentioned in the run up to the show and the reality couldn’t compete with what a lot of folk had hoped for. If you play Top Trum...

Cracking set of photos! It was one hell of a good airshow, this is a great record of the best bits, apart from missing the Slingsby Nipper topside on Monday obviously

Re: FRIAT Stand Location 2025
No issue with the stand moving west, just rather it didn't move back, and if it does move back then they can't have those silly speakers on 20ft poles anywhere near it. We were on the top row of the VV stand on Sunday and both the speakers and the connecting cables are a bit tiresome if you are try...

Re: 2024 Weather
The latest Met and BBC forecasts are looking a lot more positive than last night, but the forecast is changing daily which shows the difficulty they are having with predicting this week. Reading tea leaves is probably as reliable, all we can expect with any confidence is a mixed bag, it could be wor...

According to Chris Pocock (author of the U-2 books) on FC: "For fans of the Dragon Lady: The flying display is on Friday only, and will be takeoff, climbout and into spiral ascent, spiral descent, one go-around and then landing. Then into the static." https://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/foru...

Hmm that’s good. That’s very good. I’m glad the flypast participants are still a surprise, other than the heavies obviously. I wonder if the RS C-130 will be one with the invasion stripe livery? The Viper line is going to be great, and really looking forward to the Midnight Hawks. According to FC th...

Re: FRIAT Stand Location 2025
As a Viewing Village ‘pleb’ since 2019 I can confirm the FRIAT stand made no difference As a Viewing Village pleb until 2014 I can confirm it did. I suppose it depends on whether you get bothered by not seeing a very distant take off roll, yes the FRIAT grandstand in current location obscures line ...
