Re: Duxford Diary 2024

Nice to see a Piper Apache on the ramp at Duxford Ah, recall watching that one and several others staggering round the circuit at Biggin with people doing their twin ratings... EFATOs were seemingly always done off the 03 end into the valley. The G-ARJ* batch were originally used by the College of ...

Re: DUXFORD DIARY 2024

Ahh... looking forward to seeing the year progress through these pages. Delighted to discover that my great nephew has become a bit of an aeroplane addict and has been given a book with a Bearcat on the cover. Hoping to be able to take him to Duxford (perhaps with his Granny who also likes aeroplane...

Thanks for all the updates folks, hope you enjoyed your Christmases and have a great New Year.

I plan to get to Duxford at some point in 2024, been a few years since I've made a visit!

Re: Duxford Diary 2023

What a wonderful aeroplane that Tempest is. Was Duxford expecting the arrival of the Tempest at that moment? Surprising to see Pete Kynsey in the cockpit and nary a member of groundcrew in sight! 😉

Re: Duxford Diary 2023

Never heard of the type until wandering around Biggin Hill in July 1977 and was bought up short by this "Beech 200 SP" with a Brazilian registration on the then customs ramp - it belonged to Emerson Fittipaldi who was in the UK for the British Grand Prix (at Silverstone not Brand's Hatch!).

No, ARCo just completed a three-year restoration/overhaul of ML417, for owner Dan Friekdin, with it making its first post-restoration test flight yesterday.
Thank you!

Re: Duxford Diary 2023

Heard TE517 depart Biggin from about four or five miles away a little after 8am - sounded great - had a distant glimpse a week or two back. I see Robs Lamplough first added her to the register as G-BIXP in 1981, which I well recall seeing in Air Britain News - another Spit! Been a long time coming, ...

Re: Duxford Diary 2022

Sleap Fly-in definitely only accepting visitors by air, the organisers are not geared up for visitors by road, this year at least. The airfield manager seems a really nice guy and dead keen to encourage air-mindedness particularly amongst the young, so who knows what they'll be able provide next year.

Lovely to see the Walrus, is work on it progressing? Not heard anything in a long time...
The Walrus is privately owned, sadly there are no details of plans for this aircraft in the public domain.
Thanks!

Re: Duxford Diary 2022

Great to see N18V again - I saw it at Southend in about 1980 and never since. Saw another US registered Staggerwing flying over Lasham in 1978, think it was UK based for a while but never saw it again either.

Re: RAF Museum, Hendon - 5th January 2022

I went up the Thameslink to St Albans last week and there was a large section of blue helicopter at the back of the RAFM halls which I think must be the EH/AW101 - blue is as I recall it at Farnborough all those years ago! Weston-super-Mare a good home for it?

Great pics!

Re: Duxford Diary 2021 (2)

Fantastic to see the collection of Spitfires. Shame that Christophe Jacquard's Mk 19 reverted to the proper Griffon/prop combination - it would have been interesting to have a contra-prop on show as part of the evolution even if not the right mark. Anyone know how the Seafire F.46 restorations are c...
