Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

i'd be interested to know that, i thought the limit was around the 15k mark anyway in regard to the show, i'm still hoping for the best, expecting the worst given that we are still not allowed mass gatherings and with increasing local lockdowns around the country Previous years the September shows ...

Re: Duxford Diary 2020

Until Duxford reopens to the public (1st August) there will be little in the way of photos - only recent shots have been taken from outside the site.

When we were chatting about it, Andy reminded us of his very excellent PS Whif: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3709/11608974363_927dacbbee_b.jpg Shame who ever did it, that they couldn't put the tail fin flash the right way around, and not made it French AF  Think this (with corrected...

Re: A New Step Into Space

No doubt the Apollo program was curtailed by budgets and politics. The appetite for going into space declined as well. Once Apollo 11 was old news people didn't watch them until 13 and then it trailed off to the last mission. I haven't really followed the SpaceX project and assume they only sent two...

Re: A New Step Into Space

Apollo rocketpersons will be looking on enviously. Not really - they achieved what they did with the technology of the time. Don't forget they had computers with less power than a school calculator to put men on the Moon, not the super computers now in use. And the Saturn V rocket still holds the r...

Re: Duxford Diary 2020

The Grace/Melton canopy is far more easy on the eye than the Vickers. More like sitting in the front cockpit rather than in your conservatory. I've flown in both. The Hurricane two seater BE505 is a very sympathetic conversion IMHO. The extra length to the canopy is not obvious at first glance. I su...

Re: Duxford Shows: 2020

I just wonder if the shuttle bus from Cambridge station will still be available. Most if not all are single decker buses - if the service enforces 2m distancing for passengers other operators are stating they can only carry 10% of their full capacity - that is 3 to 5 passengers per journey. Better ...

Just out of interest how long have anybody had to wait for refunds from Duxford. I think all IWM departments are closed - they may have someone dealing with refunds but may b...

Re: Duxford Shows: 2020

And what's going to happen then? You book your 2m social distance square and remain in it for the duration of the day? Or will the crowd line be divided into a line one deep of 2m boxes and once they have all be 'allocated' no-one else will be allowed in? With the indication of gradual reopening of ...
