Re: Warplane Workshop Series 2
Did anybody notice the Republic SeaBee in the background of the shots of the N3N restoration last week? It doesn't appear to have had a Permit for quite a few years.

HAC selling their fleet
Interesting article in the April edition of the GA Buyer magazine about the disposal of the HAC fleet. As we know it includes the Nimrod 2, Hurricane, DH 9 and, my favourite, the Fury. There was a hint in the article that they didn't fit in with the IWM's Master Plan which combined with the sale to ...

Re: Current aircraft being restored to flight
Does anybody know how the Proctor restorations at Great Oakley are progressing? Seems to have gone a bit quiet recently.

Re: Warplane Workshop Series 2
I thought last night's edition on the Tempest 2 was excellent. Good to see some younger engineers getting involved and I was surprised how many sub-contractors were involved but a great final result.

An interesting set. A lot of rather sad looking airframes there. Talking of which are Bristol 170 remnants still in the bushhes behind the hangar? And the German registered JOB-15?

Re: Sywell Airshow 2024
I share your concern David and I'm 83. I seem to remember that car-parking and traffic arrangements were a concern when Legends was going to Sywell. I once visited the PFA Rally there by car and had quite a long walk from a carpark across the road from the airfield. Let's hope they get it sorted.

Re: Southern Africa 2023.
So it looks as though the Airvan joins the Airtruk and Nomad as three of the Australian industry's "near misses". I don't count my Airtourer as it's the best-handling light aircraft I've flown!

Re: Southern Africa 2023.
Hi George. Thank you for your comments on the Airvan and it does sound rather alarming. There are 9 registered here in the UK and are split beteween paradropping and flying alongside warbirds doing "experience" flights. I would have thought the lack of performance wouldn't be ideal for par...

Excellent photos of a "different" subject. Interested to know why you think the Airvan is such a bad aircraft, especially as you appear to be from Australia. Might be biased as I own a Victa Airtourer!

I seem to remember one which had a "VIP" interior and a high gloss silver paint finish. I think it was based at Tatenhill but I could be wrong.

Re: Your Favourite UK Airshow Venue
I'm with you TopGun. Little Gransden was my only show this year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It doesn't try to be RIAT or Duxford and is all the better for it, nonetheless it gets some interesting participants.

Excellent shots Tim but they are all Yaks in your last picture. The lead aircraft is a Yak 18T four seater and not a Spartan.

Re: Little Gransden 27/08/23
I haven't been to a non-Duxford/Old Warden show since before Covid so I thought I'd give Little Gransden a go and I'm pleased I did. The highlights were the Jet Pitts and the Lockheed Electra, very closely followed by the R/C models of the Hawk and SU-30. The latter did a spin off the top of a climb...

Just in case you have not picked up on it but the pilot was John Romain and he's back home, which is good news.

Heveningham Hall crash
There are reports that the Grumman Wildcat G-KINL has crashed on landing at Helvingham Hall. The pilot was seriously injured and taken to hospital by air ambulance.
