Re: Squadron Leader George Leonard "Johnny" Johnson, MBE, DFM

Sad news, but what a life.
the nickname things always makes me smile, as I remember some of my grandads Service friends, 'Chalky' White, 'Dusty' Miller, and the really tall one who was 'Tiny', and Ernie Grimes MM who at barely 5ft was 'Lofty'
A generation much missed.

Re: Duxford 19th November 2022

The Lancaster looks very complete inside, is it a restoration or did it arrive like that? I often wonder why they don't taxi or run some of the airframes, surely it would help keep them alive and earn revenue?

Re: RC model repaints and mods

Nice stuff. I tried flying an RC plane once. my brain isn't geared to understand how my thumbs should move :) and we had what was jovially noted as a "Controlled Flight into Terrain"....

I hardly ever post, for fear of gumming up the thread with 'Well done' type comments, but I really, really, really love this thread! How I wish I lived closer and could offer some time, even if it was just sweeping up :)

That’s the fairing that covers the radar. It’s made of a different material to allow the radar waves to transmit through.
Thanks Mike :)

Re: Duxford Diary 2022

Hello all,
This might be a stupid question, and it might be a stupid question in the wrong place, but is there a reason why the underside of the Victors Nose a slightly different white?

The engine on the Pucara looks a bit, erm, droopy?

Brilliant stuff.
My favourite is the Blackbird with the Austin Maestro police car in the background, representing both ends of the scale in human achievement
