Re: Buccaneer XV168 Restoration Project

So to a well overdue update from me on the recent Buccaneer doings. Sunday 7th October was Thunder Day and surprisingly I was so busy I took no photos or anything, luckily Graham actually had the time and the forethought to get some pictures and has done a good review of the days events which he has...

Re: Buccaneer XV168 Restoration Project

Hi Cabbage

As far as I can recall the MDC initiators have been remove, probably with the MDC I would presume it’s all part of the work carried out to make the aircraft safe upon retirement. We have a 20C refuelling pod at the museum but no pylon and I very much doubt there are any still around.

Nice work and it looks like the sheen on the airframe, has also started to dull down as well?

Let's compare what BAPC/AHUK have achieved with what UKHAT have achieved. I know which one of the two I trust to be the body to "protect these irreplaceable treasures"... As an aside I have wondered more than once what the late Steve Hague would have made of UKHAT. I suspect his insightfu...

And so to the repaint... Over the 7-9th April a team of us armed with masking tape, rollers, thinners and anything else need to repaint a Buccaneer congregated in the hangar with the aim of getting all the camo on the jet painted. Way too much happened over the 3 days for me to remember what happene...

Looking great Scott! Is that black etch you’re using?

ATB TT
It certainly is, just covering any areas where we’ve gone through the primer under the old paint.

Time for another work so far post while I have a bit of free time. This one will look at the prep work for the repaint that we have carried out so far.
