Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Hate to burst your bubble but the Norwegian F-104 hasn't flown since 2018 I don't think and is still awaiting a replacement ejector seat (I believe this to be the reason). Whether it'll fly again at all is anyone's guess. Not the seat itself but a lack of serviceable rocket packs for it that is kee...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

Great to see XW324 back on the display circuit this year, also already announced for Abingdon too - hopefully it'll have more appearances announced in coming months. Indeed, given all the hassle that goes with keeping an ex military jet airworthy in this country in this day and age, lets hope it ge...

Turbulent team confirmed in the flying display for all three days, always a fun part of the Midland Air Festival line up.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Spanish Harrier back again, cant complain at that. Already two decent fast jets and its only the first of the weekly updates, with the Canadian F-18 confirmed late last year.

F-18 and Twin Otter both good starts for the static display.

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

I would not get any hopes up about the Swedish Flight displaying at RIAT, although of course I would love to see them again as much as the next person. All comes down to cost as RIAT have said themselves in the past and the static appearances a couple of years ago were only possible due to Saab kind...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

Sadly self confirmed by organisers on FB no flying bulls aircraft at cosford. Yeah, looks like Flying Bulls said no to them. They did ask apparently. Will be one of three reasons 1 genuine busy and couldn't do 2 cosford didn't offer a decent enough appearance fee Or 3 the changes over the last coup...

Re: 'The face of things to come'

F-18 will be around for a while yet, Finland is planning to keep the type in service until 2030, not sure how long Spain or the Swiss plan to operate them for.

Re: 'The face of things to come'

I imagine in 20 years time we will look back at the likes of RIAT23 in the same way many now look back at the shows from the 90s. I honestly cant see RIAT and other big air shows with a lot of military participation carrying on in their current form in the long term, budgets and most likely sustaina...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

Not off to a great start really, announcement is late (assuming it actually is forthcoming today) and some of the comments from the official Facebook and Instagram accounts have been rather childish "we will try and get some awesome displays" "Our Admins are a bit crazy today" et...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

I wish the museum well, it would be wonderful to see the last Beverley saved and moved to Solway, however 60 grand in these hard times is not going to be easy to find from donations. We only have to look at how little was raised to move the Sea Vixen from VL to Bournemouth recently to see that.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Worse still are the few on certain Facebook groups who keep contacting display teams and air forces etc asking them to attend RIAT (although other shows also get it to a lesser extent). I do not mean just commenting on the public pages but contacting bases, teams and people privately, despite it be...

A complete contrast to almost every other show where they try to pressure you to buy tickets early without knowing the first thing ...

Re: NavyWings - News and Updates

The below has been posted on the Sea Vixen Facebook page today, sadly the fundraising did not reach its target. I know I wont be that popular for stating it but I did feel asking for £40k in a couple of months to move what is right now a static airframe (that might be able to do static runs in the f...

Re: Bruntingthorpe Cold War Jets 2014

The large jets as far as I know last had engine runs in late 2019, I understand the issues around running them again after such a long break but I also think back to the Mid 90s when the Vulcan at Wellsbourne was returned to runnable status after being all but left to rot since it flew in back in 19...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

*I’d say 2015 - 19 to be fair. That’s when it really kicked into that higher gear in terms of a return of international teams, but your point remains the same. I suppose hopefully there will be a bit of inertia with the foreign stuff. It seems like once a show gets onto the regular diaries of Europ...
