Re: Duxford Airshows 2021

As soon as Shuttleworth cancelled their airshow on Friday, I expect many quickly booked Duxford as a last flying event. Be plenty more next year though, hopefully without restrictions.

Spitfires MH415, MH434 and EP120 left Duxford for Goodwood this morning. The ARCo Beaver left in the afternoon but the Lysander remains at Duxford currently.

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2021 - September 18th & 19th

Rather more to it than just pushing aircraft out of the hangars. Four Spitfires to arrive, PT879, AR501, TD248, ML407 plus Buchon Red 11, Great War Team, Sea King, Wessex and Whirlwind, Army Historic Flight fleet all to land at Duxford. Should be a highlight of the season, hopefully the weather play...

Re: Blackbird's maiden visit to Little Gransden 29 August 2021

The Spitfire is RW382, previously at Biggin Hill, now based at Duxford with a new owner, and repainted into USAAF markings. Presumably the Canadian Chipmunk canopy was to improve visibility.

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2021 - September 18th & 19th

Goodwood Revival has the Red Bulls P-51, P-38, B-25 and Corsair to attend although its unclear whether it's a flypast/display or just a static appearance. Unlikely to be at Duxford as well which is a shame given that Goodwood is more vintage car racing than aircraft these days.

The BBMF Lancaster hasn't flown from Duxford yet, just engine runs this week. Sea Hurricane hasn't flown all year, doubt it will now.

BBMF Lancaster was engine running at Duxford today so a first flight wont be too far off. Sally B is parked on the same pan so that's as close as they have been for a while, albeit on the ground.

Re: Shuttleworth Reverting to Standard Format Sep/Oct

Great news, we get our freedom to wander around back, and another tenner less. More capacity now and less danger of shows selling out weeks in advance. A good move considering all restrictions are lifted and no other airshow venue is drive in. Lets hope the restaurant reopens so we have more choice ...

To be fair TFC have had aircraft flying at most, if not all of the Flying days. Definitely Corsair, Wildcat, Spitfire V and P-40F. Plus the Comanche Fighters fleet have been active recently with the Spitfire 1s and P-51 Hun Hunter. Some of the TFC fleet are already listed for BoB in September.

Out of that list I reckon A10, Su27 and Mig 21 are possible, the rest unlikely. As many are warbirds I think you need to go to Duxford or Flying Legends at Sywell to see those. BBMF are usually the only warbirds at RIAT. Let's just hope 2022 goes ahead and whatever turns up is a reasonable selection.

I believe it was in for work on the tail and I'm sure many other items. Engine cowlings, propellers and guns have been removed I've noticed over several visits. I've been told it's there until August but maybe longer. It then needs engine runs, any snags rectifying and flying back to RAF Coningsby. ...

Always practice displays and arrivals on the Friday before an airshow weekend. Might be less this year but still worth attending. Several aircraft that have yet to be announced will need practice flights.

A sad but expected outcome. Sell the Sea Fury, probably to Sanders in California who have the skills and parts to rebuild it, WG655 will probably end up there too. The Seafire PP972 is in storage and a very good candidate, it was actually built in Yeovil! Keep FB11 VR930 on the ground and concentrat...

I would have thought the purpose of a display jet is very obvious, to display it to the public! The idea of the Union Flag on a jet is nothing new. As for Miss Demeanour, she's long gone to Canada and now wears a boring grey scheme. 99% of military jets are grey, let's have something which stands ou...

I'd be surprised if Duxford July show goes ahead now, they have the same commitments in terms of booking pilot accommodation, toilet hire, food vendors, stall vendors, marquee hire etc. Any announcement on 14 June gives barely 5 weeks to put tickets on sale and hire all I mentioned above.
