Niger Government 732 @ Lasham

Here's a nice rarity, Niger's 737-200. Just turned up at Lasham for a bit of a service and cambelt change with ATC. Apologies for the awful iPhone shot, but I'm kinda at work.

Re: Single or Dual ?

The two-seat Hunter is a much more 'complete' design than the single-seat variants IMHO.

Canberras with the earlier bubble canopy look better than the offset single-seat jobbie, too.

Sonic Boom over Aberystwyth!

Anyone know who's been operating over West Wales today? F-15s, Tornados or Typhoons?

It was mighty impressive!

Perhaps you'd be so good as to find some examples of these heinous, expletive-laden, foul-mouthed postings? Bet you can't. Page 4 by Ben H (UKAR staff) in this very thread !! Guys, we're a forum about airshows and aeroplanes. We're not upholding international statute law, we're just trying to keep a happy medium between a completely unmoderated haven for all the naughty words, and some kind of KGB-esque "YOU SHALL NOT SAY 'ARSE' IF YOU DON'T WANT TEN YEARS IN SIBERI...

Or this one m Yes, because I would trust every person who uploads a picture from the Canon website rather than the actual product. Avoid. Jack. Would you rather a picture of a sealed box? I hate to be 'that guy', but I've bought and sold a lot of Canon equipment over the years, and I can categorica...

For what it's worth, I sold my absolutely mint copy for £210 - one year ago to this day in fact. They are for sale new from kerso on eBay - one of the most reputable sellers going - for £275. Not a single one has sold for more than £215 on eBay in the past month, most are in the £170-£190 region.

Re: Gliding

Obvious question, but how do you know how far to stray from the airfield? Surely the lift from thermals is quite hard to judge? You take an educated gamble! You can tell (with varying degrees of success) where the energy is by reading the sky - cumulus clouds are a good marker of thermals, and if y...

Re: Gliding

I've had flying lessons before and have pretty good hand/eye co-ordination - what's the likely/average time to go solo? I soloed after 21 aerotows when I was 16. If you're learning on a winch (it's about a third of the price per launch of an aerotow) then I think 40ish would be a reasonable estimat...

Been gliding since last summer and without exaggeration I can say that taking it up has been one of the best decisions of my life. A thoroughly rewarding and remarkably cheap hobby. Gliding

So, I think it's safe to say that all of us here have a bit of love for aviation...so have any of you ever considered giving gliding a go? It's probably the cheapest and most enjoyable way of getting into flying, where you can keep yourself aloft for hours at a time, climb to airliner altitude, or e...

Camera on the wing looking in is always a cool shot. Here's a pretty poor quality still from a GoPro on the wing of a Discus I'm flying: http://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/1378049_10202032406348883_131796765_n.jpg Another good one is under the nose, looking forward.

I am happy to be in what you believe to be the minority. However, I am still of the opinion that the poster should furnish details in the first instance. Without details, posts smack of showing off and little else. I come here to be educated and an uncaptioned shot rarely helps. There must be many ...
