Re: 48 Hour Photo Competition: 2019

Doesn't it seem like ages ago? 2022 can't come quickly enough. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48048303243_7b148fdbd2_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48048304008_740440c7d8_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48535784877_0b8fdbe1cf_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/485356...

Re: The Historic Helicopters Thread

We need to lobby the Army Air Corps and get Middle Wallop back, in its heyday it was an international airshow very much with a helicopter theme.

Re: Midlands Air Festival 2022

Tickets and hotel booked for Friday and Saturday. The balloons are the big draw for me but will also enjoy the airshow element. Do they have the warbirds land on site, obviously not the JP, or is it just the light stuff like the RV? Last year Tiger Moths, Stampes, Chipmunks, Auster and the helicopt...

Re: No Time To Die - with SPOILERS

hmm, did we actually see him die though? it was implied.. so it does give them some wiggle room. I am conscious that James Bond films are light entertainment, its a mistake to over analyse them I think. All in all, I've loved the DC era though, its a had a real quality start to finish (except for Qu...

Oh I've a real soft spot for the Harvard. Some great images posted already. As rebel14 mentioned them, and Derek has already posted some, here's the Harvard formation team.Definitely a staple of the latter half of the 80's, you did need the sound for full effect. Church Fenton, 1988. Not going to wi...

Ah thanks Mike. I had noticed them cropping up in this thread over the last weeks and was curious. They're very nice, and I'm sure a case of catch them while you can.

Are they here much longer?

What are the Stearman doing folks? looks like a filming job - have they been brought over from the US specifically for it?

They're very smart looking machines.

Re: No Time To Die - with SPOILERS

SF is Skyfall, DC is Daniel Craig.

I think pbeardmore saw a different film to me.

We shouldn’t have to explain what the end of the film achieved in terms of story telling. As Craig said in a recent interview it’s all about family and relationships. It’s blindingly obvious.

I love the Blues heritage kits Derek, you've got a great collection.

I can just imagine the team flying Bearcats. Must've been quite something.

Re: Airfix 1/48 Chipmunk T.10

Sweet little model, and great to have a model of something you've flown in. This one is on my list, I want to do one in Skylarks markings - what its a shame that a brand new kit and especially such a small one needs intervention to keep the wings in line. What’s the complexity in the canopy construc...

Re: No Time To Die - with SPOILERS

Yep, what he says (and takes an age to say), my thoughts since I saw it last night are whether it knocks Skyfall off my number one slot. And that’s it’s up there with it says it all really.

The female members of my family are.. emotionally unsettled by it, I have to say. 😁

Re: No Time To Die - with SPOILERS

I enjoyed it immensely. I’m still kind of reluctant to discuss the overall plot of it even with the warning in the thread title though. But all in all I’d recommend it, it’s a good watch. As far as Bond films go, in the top set for me. You won’t get bored, nor be short of stuff to talk about on the ...

Re: Old Warden Race Weekend Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October

I've just had a read of the website, and I've realised that the aviation and motoring action is on different days. The idea of a wings/wheels racing event must appeal to so many aviation and car enthusiasts - I mean the crossover must be the majority in both cases - why on earth do that? Some racing...

Re: Aeralis Red Arrows?

Sod the expense - I LOVE the Red Arrows - there, I said it! Living near an airbase as a child is the reason I took to aviation, an embarrassment of choice when it came to air displays drove me on. Every lad in our school was an aviation expert (and a few lasses too), regular village kids with dads ...

Re: Aeralis Red Arrows?

The Red Arrows have a universal appeal to the general public that a single aeroplane flying around could never have. They appeal to everyone in every walk of life. There's only Concorde in my lifetime that has been able to make everyone look up and smile the way the Red Arrows do. I also suspect tha...

Re: Aeralis Red Arrows?

I apologise if this has already been discussed but why can the Red Arrows not use the Hawk T2? The Indian Air Force Aerobatic team the 'Surya Kiran' use the Hawk T2 so it is clearly an airshow performer??? Yeah, my understanding is that they are the airframe equivalent of a T2, but without a lot of...
