Re: FRIAT 2024
That's the thing, the diversion of the FRIAT part of the queue seems such a minor thing; as is clear to us all the queue is before any contact with security checks. The explanation doesn't make sense to me. I find it very hard to believe it can't be managed.

I'm so sorry to hear Anatoly has passed away. Re: The Danish Airshow - 9th June 2024
I’m planning on going to this, this year. Has anyone been before? What’s it like? What to expect? Thanks As others have said, the Danes put on a great show. Very accessible too. Make sure you get in early on show day. As always, our own UKAR reviews are a great resource if you want to get the flavo...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
The Firecat is a really lovely little gem. Midnight Hawks are lovely too. As awesome as the F-18C is from them, for the sake of variety, it’s nice to have that team back. With them, the Reds, and rumoured Saudis, it’s nice to see so many legacy Hawks in the air for the (unofficial) Hawk 50th year. ...

Re: FRIAT 2024
On Friday the aircraft in red and blue areas are in place so you can walk to FRIAT from the car parks. Green zone is still live so to get from the green car park you use the internal shuttle bus. On Monday FRIAT run a walking bus across from blue gate only to get into the stand. Morning is ok becau...

All good! And apart from a very enjoyable visit from and chinwag with this forum's very own Nige Watson, who spent a bit of time with us and learned first hand a bit about what goes into getting a 50's fighter jet working again, that was it for Saturday. It was enjoyable indeed! absolutely fascinat...

Yes, me too. Its not so much the lack of updates that bothered me, rather what was ultimately presented.
I usually buy Cosford Club quite early. I'll hang fire for a while I think.
I'm rooting for Cosford, hopefully they can get back on form in 2024.

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.
I'd love the Blue Angels to tour Europe again. European tours were a regular thing up to 92, on a similar sort of cadence to the Thunderbirds. I suppose it'll take somebody in high command to want to make it happen. Of course the USAF has a much larger presence in Europe than the USN, which would ex...

About 4 hours. As opposed to 8 hours plus at the weekend. It is (mostly) made up of things that will feature at the weekend too.sharkyofcutsh wrote: ↑Wed 25 Oct 2023, 12:13 pmHow long does the flying typically last for on the Friday for RIAT?

Re: Best Grandstand seat for FRIAT 2024
As Hammerhead has pointed out, you can't book FRIAT for a single day. Its a 5 day package. Maybe one of the other enclosures will suit you. The public grandstand isn't ideal for photography as its quite a long way back from the crowd line, but the garden enclosure in front of it is great for a singl...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Typical marketing to induce panic buying .... at the moment no aircraft are confirmed ....."buy a ticket and secure a spot to look at an empty airfield" 😂 That’s a bit unfair. You’re buying tickets for RIAT and RIAT is what you will get. Its safe to say there will be an international airs...

Ah you must have been right by me Paul, we should have said hello. Lovely images, and now I'll know what mine could/should look like when I go through them. The Victory Show is a gem of an event, and I mean the whole thing as opposed to just the flying display which is only a part of it, as unique a...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
Good review, one small thing though. The French Parachute team jumped from a Short Skyvan not the Herc that the Falcons jumped from. Seemed to be pretty fair and balanced, which might have been hard given the complaints leading up to the show day. AAh yes, of course! my apologies and thanks for the...

yes, but the queue isn't too challenging on Thursday! Blue entrance, as normal.bishbashbosh wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul 2023, 7:02 amI’m thinking about doing the grandstand this year on Thursday rather than P&V. I assume it’s the same procedure as on the Monday, just turn up at the blue entrance shortly before the gates open and join the queue?

It’s ironic that the show has moved from Duxford’s awkward crowdline and obscured view of the runway to recreate a similar set-up at Church Fenton. Hopefully like Duxford the compensation will be in close up views of taxying aircraft.
Looking at the map, I wouldn’t know where to head for!

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
FRIAT seemed to be pushing the left luggage option but I've had mixed results when I've used it in the past. One year was flawless, another year they lost my bag for about 45 mins. I also don't much fancy the scrum to collect first thing in the morning. They do seem to be pushing it, encouraging me...
