Re: How high do we go
The limit will be set at something like 41100ft to allow cruising at FL410 as while cruising FL410 there will be small excursions. That will be a structural limit limited by the pressurization system and the maximum diff. pressure. On a given day there be ceiling dependent on temperature, aircraft ...

Re: How high do we go

So an aircraft can be flying at a higher altitude then its limit, although there are some implications about climbing performance, if needs be. Sorry, you are wrong. The limi...

Re: How high do we go
I think the A330 limit will actually be something like 41100ft to allow for small excursions away from the cruise level. No, that's not how limits work. If the book says 41000ft, it will be 41000ft. However, you need to take account of which static vent the cabin display uses. It may not be the pri...

Not a bad effort mate! Apparently the rumours are true. QinetiQ/ETPS are just about to under-go restructuring so they can teach civillian pilots amongst other things. an exellent article by Craig Hoyle of Flight International can be found here: m Just a couple of points of clarification. This is the usual, the trainee sits in the front and instructor in the back it allows him/her to see what the trainee is doing. This isn't quite true. For a start, the instructor can't actually see what the front seat is doing due to the ejection seat and the console in front. Tandem trainers norma...

In reply to the post about the Chieftain, a number of points: The Raspberry Ripple scheme is not an ETPS scheme, but is the MoD(Procurement Exectuve) scheme, and all ex MoD(PE) aircraft (generally speaking) had this scheme. Strictly speaking, ETPS does not have it's own fleet, as they are all part o...
