Re: The Scottish International Airshow (Ayr seafront) 2018

Excellent news, especially following the Daily Record report that there will be a break in 2019 due to council funding issues (although they are committing to 2020).

Re: Jersey 2017

Loved the Draken, got to see a flying Lansen . A visit to Jersey is worth it for the flying Swedes alone. Forgot how big an Alize is.
BTW, was the Castle open?

Re: Jersey 2017

Timetable up on the website.... features A400 flypast (assuming that aircraft isn't off to the Caribbean?) and a Learjet.

Couple of nice formations for the French and Swedes prior to their solos.

I expect the weather to mean a BBMF no-show though.

Re: Sanicole Sunset Airshow 2017

"Nice set, RIAT are you watching, how easy was that to take four common aircraft and make a spectactular fly past"

You mean like the one to celebrate the Red Arrows 50th, with the PDF Alpha instead of the Saudi Hawk? Belgian copycats.

Anyway, great photos - Rafale "looks" great.

Typhoon display and flares

I assume that Typhoons carry flares but have never seen one use them in a display... any ideas why not?

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Yes, but you are in Eire, where there has not been a Shoreham-type accident. It would be interesting to see how other European regulators would have responded to a similar event taking place at an airshow in their country.

Is that Couteau Delta using two special tail Mirages for the display with the desert camo as the spare? If so, a repeat for next week would be nice.

Maybe the 130 aircraft "on the ground" includes the various support aircraft which come and go.

Don't the A4s have a day job that might preclude an arrival before Friday afternoon, after the display?

Torbay 2017

Its Torbay this weekend, first big seaside show of 2017 - looked like a bumper crowd on the web feed yesterday - anybody go? Were the Reds and Typhoon the same as last year - was there a crowd rear arrival?

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)

This is all bordering on wish list.

Isn't the issue with the Ukrainians money? You need quite deep pockets - or have they changed their policy?

Astounded that, given the line up so far, anybody is saying it needs a stand out item.

Re: Sea Vixen XP924 Thread

I think that the Harrier is one of small number of aircraft that could produce a "Vulcan effect" and see a large increase in crowd numbers were it to make it onto the display circuit.

Superb update.... let's hope the Italian Tornado doesn't bust the display line this year.

Re the Midnight Hawks - is a support C295 likely, or do they still have a serviceable FK27? Also, I know the Thunderbirds brought in 2 support C17s in 2007 - did they both stay on static?

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)

Mind you, I don't think Sally B attended the 50th or 60th celebrations. In fact, in 2007, I only recall a P51, P39, P40 and a couple of C47/DC3 types on static and the, alas now departed, Golden Apple and a heritage P51 in the flying display. Did 1997 have any warbirds? (although the F86.... and an ...
