Re: Air Shows 2024

It clearly says to book BEFORE (not ON) the end date. I really can’t see the issue (other than the trend for people not being able to follow simple instructions).

I’m old enough to remember the plan for Westlands to build Blackhawks as the Puma/Wessex replacement back in the 1980s.

Re: Top 10 Airshow Moments of 2023

Whilst I agree with a lot of that, I’d have included Pete Kynsey’s sublime performance in ML407 in tribute to Carolyn Grace at the end of Duxford’s September airshow. Far and away the most poignant moment of the season for me.

And the Saab 105 would certainly have made my top 10 too.

Doesn't seem that long ago the RAF ran Finningley, Leuchars, Abingdon and St Athan all on the same day !
Not the same day, two shows a day on consecutive weekends.

Re: Belgian Air Force Days 2023 - A bit late

A nice selection and good to see a reminder of the olden days when the Belgians used to show off their Air Force.

Shouldn’t this have been posted in the ‘Golden Oldies’ Photos section though?

Re: 'The face of things to come'

It’s not just the F-35 effect, air arms in general are winding down their airshow commitments. It wasn’t so long ago in the U.K. we had solo Hawk, RAF Sea King, Team Merlin, Attack Helicopter Demo, Tucano, RN Merlin demo, Harrier, Tornado F3, Tornado GR, Nimrod, Hercules, Sea Harrier. All gone, and ...

They’re not acrobatic, or aerobatic either.

Unlike the Red Bull Bo 105 that’s appearing at Ragley Hall in early June.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

You’ll miss them when they’re gone. We’re running out of jet teams in Europe with the loss of Team 60, Breitling, Iskry, later this year the Patrouille Suisse. Not to mention the likes of Diables Rouge, Asas de Portugal and Karo As since I’ve been attending airshows. Patrulla Aquila must be on borro...

Ok so what was wrong with them? The RAF website offers no clues https://www.raf.mod.uk/aircraft/juno- Probably because the purchase had nothing whatever to do with the RAF The purchase was intended to replace AAC Gazelles in Northern Ireland, but they were never used and put into storage as soon as...

Re: 'The face of things to come'

I suspect that it is unlikely that many air arms will work up a full dedicated F-35 display, as they are buying a lot less of them than the F-16s they are replacing. Any fast jet jet display will be more of a rarity in future years.
