Re: Sywell Airshow 2024

I don’t believe there was ever an option to book The Aviator. I suspect the organisers block-booked it before the dates were publicly announced.

Has anyone managed to purchase tickets on the site? I can get as far as the checkout page, then it keeps taking me back to that page when I try to pay.

Re: Interesting Internet (Historic Aviation)

Well I can't imagine the FAAM selling their Corsair - 3 of the four airworthy European Corsairs are at the Sywell show at the end of the month (the Jean Salis one being absent) might it be one from another country passing through the UK? TT The Salis one is listed for Sywell, it’s the ex-Max Alpha ...

Re: Interesting Internet (Historic Aviation)

Well, there’s only one flyable Corsair based in the UK, and one static one in a national collection, so the list of possibilities is a (very) short one.

4 year restoration/rebuild from being dug out of the dirt in Belgium. Well done to all involved.
I wonder how many parts that were ‘dug out of the dirt in Belgium’ are incorporated.

A400 Pair flypast?
Yes, the pair are coming back from Normandy so flypast on route home.
They just made 4 drops at La Fiere as part of a 20-aircraft stream of C-130s and A400Ms. Quite a sight!

RRHF’s P-51 appears to be over in France for the D-Day Commemorations, so appears to be out and about at least. Source: Photos on TAB’s Facebook page from Cherbourg. I’m standing looking at it right now. It looked very serviceable as it landed a few minutes ago after flying along the beaches with M...

…not sure why a P-38 and F-86 can’t make it over when a B-25 can,
Because the B-25 is IFR-equipped so can fly in weather that the P-38 and Sabre cannot.

Why has the Hawker Fury MkII cancelled? It’s literally at Duxford. You could say the same about Miss Helen (which was flying at Duxford on Wednesday) - the Electra Junior was on the list too but was swapped for Jersey Jerk . Maybe SR661 has a niggle, or there's some other reason. They are displayin...

Of the ones that came over from the US, Placid Lassie and That’s all Brother are, Western and Spirit of Douglas are not equipped for dropping parachutists.
