Not enough T2s in the inventory and there have some engine issues with them.
Replace the T2s for training, then use the surplus T2s for the Reds. 28 will be plenty to see the them through another 50 years

If sense is the word we use with airframe disposals from IWM and RAFM - the latter of course disposing of their only Chipmunk as not relevant to the RAF. There is one at Cosford Or ‘RAF Museum Somewhereinthemiddleofbritain’ as it is now known https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/documents/collections/85-A-...

Could it be something like the F-22? It's got to be something of that level to have this secrecy.
The F-22 demo team is already committed to a show in the US over RIAT weekend

At some point we have to get the massive RAF update, I reckon they're gonna get that out of the way next week Hardly massive. The trainers have already been announced for the most part. A couple of heavies, the Chinook role demo and maybe another Typhoon and an F-35 for static. What else are you ex...

Re: Interesting Internet

It’s a really interesting discussion, but I agree with you; I don’t think that’s the purported redundancy of helicopters in modern battlefield environments (disagree with that as a premise anyway) is the reason for the cancellation. On a separate but related subject, it has gone remarkably quiet on...

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2025 - 8th June

So there should now be floods of tickets being sold going on posts on here. Took me about two minutes to list mine and another minute before it was sold. A shame, it’s still a nice lineup for the airshow, but I don’t like the venue (too crowded with people and vehicles, horrendous traffic and looki...

I’ve seen it a lot (I was lucky enough to see it display 11 times in 2022 as I did several French shows) but try to catch the special scheme jet each season. This would have been my only chance in the U.K. this year.

French Rafale reported to have gone tech in France. Conflicting information one Facebook page says today at 3pm and Hawarden spotters group are saying tomorrow now. As well as some more UK (RAF, AAC) and USAF announcements, we could also possibly expect something from QinetiQ/ETPS, as they have sent quite a few aircraft in recent years.

If we were to have a fleet of F-35A & B, would the Tempest then be kind of a replacement for the Typhoon?
Tempest was always intended as a Typhoon replacement

In my view we should be doing what every other country in the consortium apart from the UK is doing and buy a Tranche 4 batch of Typhoons. Keep the money, jobs and capability within Europe until Tempest comes on stream. In the meantime buy a top-up batch of 8 more F-35Bs to throw a billion dollar bo...
