Re: Was the RCAF Hornet really that bad?
...one would hope, if their Hornet demo ever returns, that they would look to emulate their European peers rather than their fellow North Americans. A rational person would hope that they would perform their display within the parameters established by the Canadian Armed Forces. You know, the gover...

I can't wait to see next Thursday's update in that case! .................a whole squadron of Spanish AV-8Bs, herds of MiGs from Croatia, the entire USAF inventory of B2Bs.................oh dear.. Don't forget the German MiG-29s, Aussie F-111s, Laotian MiG-21s, Nagorno-Karabakh Hips, and did I for...

Re: Climate Change - Airshows
Aviation, on the whole, accounts for approximately 3.5% of all CO2 emissions. Aggressive steps should be taken to reduce the impact, but your conscience ought not to be too heavily weighed upon.

Being from the States, I only had the pleasure of seeing Peter display once, at Shoreham back in 2014 with the lovely Spit PR11. Beautiful display it was, too.

Memphis Belle comes to the USAF Museum! Plus a visitor...
And I'm not talking about the "fake" Memphis Belle from the 1990 movie!* The original Memphis Belle is now on display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, so if you've not found a reason to make the trek to Dayton, Ohio yet, you've now got one. The exhibit opened on Thursday, 17 M...

Re: Andrews AFB air show 2017
Ah, good ol' Andrews. Used to be an annual pilgrimage for me, but I stopped going a few years after they started shuttling spectators from offsite. I keenly recall struggling with that early-morning light that seemed to linger out in front forever, and always when the more interesting or unusual kit...

Re: Airshow London (Ontario) - LOTS added.
Wow, that was a show and a half. Four days spent baking in the Ontario sun, under record temperatures for the time of year, under glorious sunshine, has yielded these results. I'm going to post these in the order in which I damned well please, so no, they're not chronological. I make no apologies fo...

Re: Airshow London (Ontario) - LOTS added.
I've just returned from four days roasting in the Canadian sun at the spectacular Airshow London, which featured wall-to-wall sunshine, flesh-melting temperatures, and a boatload of fast jets beating up the airfield. I've got over 1,300 images to process from the Thursday arrivals (taken from outsid...

Northeastern Pennsylvania Air Show
The weather forecast looked splendid for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Air Show, held at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport in Avoca, Pennsylvania, about an hour or so northwest of Philadelphia in the picturesque Pocono region. Well, being as it's in the mountains, twenty-four hours of blue...

Re: 2017 CF-18 demo/Spring Training
Oh, that CF-18 looks nice! I wasn't sure how good it'd look in the flesh from the computer images, but they really did a banger of a job. I hope I get to catch it sometime this year; I'm going to Gatineau at the end of the month, but the Hornet is somewhere in the US South that weekend. Another trip...

Thanks for the compliments all! Lakeland is indeed a very photogenic venue; the crowdline faces due north, so the sun is behind you all day. Great set of pics & some humour thrown in as well! One question. What's all the small printing that's on the Mohawk? It seems to be all over the fuselage &...

Sun 'N Fun 2017 - LOTS!
Last week, I was in Lakeland, Florida for Sun 'N Fun. My first time there, and I'll more than likely be back. I attended the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday shows, and took quite a few photographs. Tuesday, 4 April Worst weather of the week in terms of photography conditions, with high clouds in the ...

Re: RIAT 2017 wishlist
I take that to mean that at the time of scheduling the team hadn't been tasked with a show that weekend but have been put on notice they will potentially be attending one. As UK participation of US flying assets isn't usually announced until early in that year, there is a very good chance this &quo...

Re: RIAT 2017 wishlist
The F-15 demo and Thunderbirds were here in 2007, i can't see why not! That was ten years ago, when the USAF had seven single-ship demo teams. Langley and Nellis aside, the USAF keeps the Thunderbirds and F-22 separate. Spread the wealth, y'know. I'm shocked at the audacity some folks have in assum...

Better Late Than Never...
Back in June, I found myself at the Ocean City Air Show in coastal Maryland. As with the previous year, I watched the show from my hotel room balcony, right at show center. It was a decent little show; not a patch on 2015, but it had some good stuff, like the F/A-18F tac demo, the F-35A "Herita...

Thanks all! Appreciate the comments. BAD: 1) MiG-23 canceling last minute. This was touted as a headliner since January, and all of a sudden it cancels two weeks before the show. This was the main reason I went to the show, and bought all my photo pit tickets in advance. From what I heard around the...

Thunder Over Michigan - LOTS
I make no apologies for the volume of images in this post. As good as this show was - and make no mistake, it was phenomenal - it was supposed to have been even better. The theme this year was "Helotown," and the star item would've been an Mi-24 from the Cold War Aviation Museum. Originall...

Excellent stuff, Langley always puts on a great show. Just wish that weather could've stuck around for Cherry Point the following week! A bit sad to see the Martinsburg tail flash on a C-17, though. We used to get their Galaxies up in Pittsburgh now and then. Globemasters just don't have the same pr...
