Looking at these last night they rekindled my own memories of a visit to Miramar, then I noticed the year. I checked my own pictures this morning and if I'm not mistaken you were there in October with Midland Aviation Tours (Graham Beasley), the same tour as me?

The extra F-18E/F's are to replace the oldest of the F/A-18A's nothing to do with the F-35 procurement.

On a brighter note, the Runway is staying open as a diversionary! The Dundee Courier and local radio has mentioned 600 troops to be based, do those 2 units only have that number? Arabest, Geoff. The numbers seem a bit low for two units if both are at full strength. I had the RSDG's at one of my cam...

Sequestration kicks in big time

If you thought the grounding of the USAF Thunderbirds was bad, the US navy have announced that 4 complete Air Wings are to be grounded with 2 being reduced to "non carrier" readiness, along with a wealth of other cutbacks. m "The four air wings to be grounded are Carrier Air Wing 2, w...

What is the correct local pronouncation of Culdrose? I would say Cul-drose, but it may be like the Covesea lighthouse at Lossiemouth which should actually be pronounced Cow-sea.

Did it, I watched about 90% of the program and I didn't hear the mention of the biggest rescue mission ever carried out in UK waters that being Piper Alpha, infact very little mention of the RAF throughout.

Re: Snow

When I worked at Lossie(left in 2003) they always tried to stay open as long as possible and would routinely deploy the snow clearing squad "Operation Black Top" in between the different waves taking off/returning. The biggest problem was if there was a heavy snowfall during the night or o...

The E-9's are based at Tyndall AFB for over the horizon telemetry relay and range control and are operated by the USAF's 82nd ATS/53rd WEG and wear a pure White colour scheme. The 4 x 81st FS jets that went to Moody are to supplement the existing 23FW a/c whilst some of there a/c go through maintenance.

As well as 13 Sqn.

Even back in 1993 it is clear to see the start of the draw down of Sqns, with 15, 16 and 20 all gone from frontline service.

Looking great Phil, nice variation with the Greys. With regards to the decals, if your doing this as the " '91' Desert Storm Home Coming" scheme then it's Black arrows and triangles on both sides . However it looks like you have a duff sheet as both decals "F" should be Black. I ...

makes more sense to have 2 and 3 point HDU fittings than 2 and a boom Does it, I dare say the 3 HDU fit will only be able to use the 2 wing mounted points or the fuselage point at any one time and not all 3, with the fuselage HDU being for single FJ and large aircraft off loads? EC-331 was it's serial while it was registered with Airbus Military. What I would like to know is why these a/c aren't configured to the same spec as the Australian and UAE versions, with the Boom transfer system as well as HDU's?
