Re: The Aviation Club
You can take pictures in there-lots of people do. There's even a mini FRIAT like stand there for people to sit in and take photos which is elevated.

The usual diamond formation in midfield will make it rather crowded.....

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017
To be totally honest, I was disappointed in the show yesterday. The traffic management was poor-signage not that clear, ended up taking a 10 mile detour to get on base. Flying display was a bit thin for the cost. You can't do anything about aircraft going unserviceable on the runway of course, but I...

Re: Andy Pawsey - discuss.
Was Andy Pawsey the bloke who did the last few Leuchars shows? Because if so, I must admit I wasn't really a fan of his style at all! Another shout here for Brendan O'Brien, who manages to be both informative and entertaining. The best commentary I have heard in a long while came from the French du...

An example of every type in the RAF inventory to display or perform a flypast. Phantom (F) An exotic military display team (Russian Knights would be nice or the Blue Angels) B1/B-52 (F) A full inventory from the RSV (F) The Royal Jordanian Falcons (F)..... TU-95 (F) Flanked by a couple of Typhoons.....

Re: Flying Boats at seaside airshows
Chatting to the Plane Sailing guys at Duxford last weekend and asked much the same thing.
Response was that 'you couldn't pay them enough money' to land on salt water, to preserve the airframe.
They do land on fresh water at least once a year however (in Italy IIRC).

The display jet looks really smart too this year.
Dare we hope for blue skies?

Any thoughts about a possible cast?
How about Michael Caine as Hugh Dowding? Would be a nice nod to the original film?

Presumably camo only came in when the aircraft were re-roled to a low level profile from their original high level one (around 62-63 IIRC?)

Re: Chinook Display withdrawn - airframe fatigue cited
Yet more absolute nonsense from an air force terrified to come out and admit it can't be bothered with display flying or supporting airshows. Fatigue? A display notably less aggressive than previous years. Add this to the King Air farce and the RAFAT petrified of its own shadow (see Farnborough and...

Re: A poll - will CAA changes affect your habits?
I was aghast at what we saw at Shuttleworth on Sunday (Rules is rules though chaps eh..... ) I suspect that Duxford will be the same or worse but will be saved by Joe Public wanting to see the Reds and the P de F. I am told that ticket numbers sold are about a half of what they would expect so far....

Peter Teichman may well have already spoken to the CAA mightn't he? How would we know? Maybe if he and others haven't its because they agree with (or are not fussed either way about) the new rules? I don't know obviously, just putting it out there... PT has made his feelings pretty clear on his Han...
