Re: Duxford Dates 2024
As an update to my earlier post, D-Day Squadron have been organising the trip, as last time, and this is their itinerary... May 15-25: Train and cross North Atlantic May 25-31: Europe training and buffer for weather / mechanical June 1-5: Imperial War Museum, Duxford, multiple events/flyovers, phot...

Re: Duxford Dates 2024
The Daks are due at Duxford 1 - 5 June, so I'm guessing there may be another event slotted in during the days after the Summer show, similar to 2019, hopefully with better weather. That depends which tentative plan you believe. According to this website https://dday-80.co.uk/ the Daks will be at No...

Re: Duxford dates 2023
I believe four aircraft which featured in the first Duxford air show in 1973 (judging only from the programme) are still airworthy with the Shuttleworth Collection. Will be a sadly missed opportunity if none are featured in the 50th anniversary flying day.

Interesting, thanks. I thought they were both bundled up in the same legalities, so happy to be corrected.
Hopeful we might see at least the Corsair back in the air anyway.

Re: Interesting Internet (Historic Aviation)
Welcome news in NZ, FG-1D Corsair ZK-COR NZ5648 (ex G-BXUL of Breitling Fighters Team) has been announced to be back in the air this year. It's been chained up in the Vintage Aviator Ltd hangar in Masterton since 2015. It was up for tender earlier this year, but no sale was announced (it needs Gove...

Duxford has everything on site to create a world renowned airshow, that would attract an audience from across the globe - one of the largest and most significant collections of airworthy historic aircraft in the world and an airshow organising team with 30+ years of experience and contacts, able to ...

Were you disappointed when the 2019 show didn't include a major amphibious landing with naval gun barrage?Pen Pusher wrote: ↑Sun 23 Apr 2023, 1:28 pmA poster showing aircraft that aren't going to be there, that's false advertising.

Previously it had "Participants at previous Flying Legends" or something similar. It has been cleared down to have a fresh start for 2023. The aircraft currently shown are the TFC fleet only. They will likely trickle out other participants between now and the show.

Re: Villaroche Air Legend 2023
Thanks both for the info. I've been wanting to go to Villaroche since it started - I had plans for 2020 (had a hotel booked), but obviously that didn't happen. I've started looking into it again today as a consolation prize for not being able to go to Flying Legends. I think the main appeal of the s...

Villaroche Air Legend 2023
I'm planning on going to Air Legend this year for the first time. https://airlegend.fr/en/the-event/ Interested to know if anyone has any experience of previous shows they can share, particularly whether the 'Spotters' tickets are worthwhile. I'm currently considering Spotter tickets for Friday and ...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Venue TBA
Bought Goodwood FoS tickets last week, to spend the weekend there with 3 good friends. The event clashes are unfortunate. For me Legends would always be 1st choice over RIAT and Goodwood, but I'm already committed now and wouldn't want to miss a weekend with mates or let them down. It's disappointin...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Venue TBA
15-16th July is also the weekend of Goodwood Festival of Speed. IF it returned, I was banking on Legends taking it's usual 1st full weekend in July, which this year is 8-9th July... Wouldn't that be the 1st and 2nd? Indeed... 2ND full weekend in July is what I meant... which is when the show...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2022 - 10th & 11th September
The point, really, is that you are wrong - about aircraft content. I have very quickly cobbled together a list of aircraft from the last half-dozen editions of Flying Legends that have never been seen at any other Duxford show. In no particular order, badly formatted and likely containing errors, bu...

One could list dozens of aircraft which would never have been seen at Duxford (or even in the UK) without the efforts of the Fighter Collection and Flying Legends team.

While I recognise that ultimately this is a question of value for money and whether IWM are providing that for paying customers, for me personally it is not about ticket prices at all . Re: Duxford Summer Air Show - 18th & 19th June
I agree it's not that spectacular and the lack of legends is disappointing but you pays your money and takes your choice. That’s lovely as a principle, but the reality is that I don’t have a choice. IWM have overseen the demise of Flying Legends, a renowned aviation event that people would travel a...

Re: Duxford Summer Air Show - 18th & 19th June
I had rye opportunity to visit Duxford two weeks ago, something I have never done on a none air show day. There seemed to be a lot of aircraft in maintenance. I just wondered with no Legends and two largely missed season, how many of these aircraft have not been worked up to display ready leave? Co...

Re: Duxford Summer Air Show - 18th & 19th June
In 20+ years I’ve never seen so few people at Duxford on an airshow morning, so few aircraft on the flightline or such a thin selection of stalls.
‘Appealing to families’ is all very well, but the way to appeal to everyone is surely to play to your strengths.
Mostly I just feel sad.

Yes, and seaside airshows don't generally have dozens of airworthy historic aircraft sitting in hangars unused/not booked/not wanting to take part (whatever the politics may be).

Re: Duxford Summer Air Show - 18th & 19th June
I'm concious of the futility of complaining about Duxford and it's air shows on forums and social media. My question then, are there any worthwhile channels that enthusiasts and supporters can use to send feedback to IWM? I want to support Duxford and be enthusiastic about it, but IWM make it increa...
