Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Hi All Saw the big jet van in a field by Heathrow as I passed by this morning and thought I'd have a look when I arrived home. This is the first time I've seen this 'programme'. I have to say I had to shut it off after five minutes. The person's commentary is so unprofessional not to mention misinfo...

Dave

Your two Cargomasters should be N136AR and N201AR. Hope that helps.

Re: traveling by BA, check your e-mail

I was meant to be going out on the 9th, but despite publiclly saying they would 'do everything they could' to get people to their destinations, yet again they have done nothing but cancel the flight. Offering no help or solutions whats so ever. This is the second time in a month they have cancelled ...

Re: website questions

Hi Have a look at Zenfolio. There are a number of levels with various costs per year. You can use their templates to design your own website to your liking and from level 2 upwards there is no limit to the number of photos you can upload. I have used them for a number of years and have no hassle wit...

D-Day Flypast Over Portsmouth

Haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere yet. Of course I might just have missed seeing it, but the following may be of interest to some people.

There is a D-Day flypast over Portsmouth on the 5th June. Details can be found in the following AICs:

Re: Daks Over Normandy - June 2019

Chatting, bank holiday Monday to the people who operate the Finnish DC-3 based at Malmi, they said they where still coming over to Duxford.

OH-LCH is looking in imaculate condition, both inside and out. They really look after that DC-3.

Re: Paris CDG spotting

Yes, the mound is no more. Heavily built on. You do still need a photography permit if taking pics, but if you are just spotting you should be OK. I was there last year and it's difficult to find a place for decent photos, but the grass bank by the station/hotels is still available for viewing from....

Re: Great opportunity or missed chance ? - Typhoon

Some lovely shots there.

In fact, they did position a Eurofighter/Typhoon next to it at some point as there is a photo showing this in the September edition of Aviation News magazine. Not a brilliant photo but one that shows both aircraft side by side.

Re: Travelodge LHR Central

Yep, I remember the old Emmantina well. Stayed there on many an occasion. It was sad to hear poor old George the daytime barman died of cancer a few years ago. The hotel is still there, just no airport down the road anymore. They were thinking of running a bus shuttle to the new airport when it open...

Re: Travelodge LHR Central

If it's the one on the Bath Road in Cranford a couple of miles from the airport you will certainly be able to see the aircraft on short final. 27R approaches will pass right over the hotel at about 400 ft. Not having stayed at the hotel but knowing how it's position, at a guess, I'd say you would wa...

Re: Madrid in March

Hi John You could possibly get away with the 18-300. They come reasonably close to the mound, but I think you would be nearer 300 all the time. I was using my 50-500 which gave me a bit of scope. One thing you need to be aware of is heat ripple. It may not look as if there is any but the camera will...

Madrid in March

At the end of March, I escaped a for few days to the sunshine at Madrid. All the viewing was done from the ‘mound’ near Terminal 4 overlooking the airport. I stayed at the Hotel Marriot Auditorium. Since my last visit here, most of the rooms with a view over part of the airport have had the windows ...

Re: Paris - CDG and Orly

Yep, I had a permit. Had to get a new one for this year as my old one had expired. It took about a month from sending off to receiving it. The person I was with had an old out of date permit and he got away with it. We didn't see any police to speak of. Certainly we were not asked to see our permits...

Palma

A week at the beginning of September saw a return visit to Palma. It had been a couple of years since I was last here. Paris - CDG and Orly

A 3 day trip to Paris in August saw both Charels de Gaulle and Orly visited. Based at CDG the photos were taken from the grass banking overlooking the charter terminal (T3) or from the hotel room. Thankfully the windows could be opened. The days of ‘The Mound’ at CDG are long gone and just viewing t...

Alpha Mike doesn't have a website for aviation tours. He sends out his tour itinaries by e-mail or post. Even so anyone can book a trip with them. If you want I can send you next years provisional tours. At the moment they are a basic outline without prices yet.
