Re: Reports that sole Iranian AWACS lost in collision

I think this particular tension is a a very serious one. Firstly regarding the loss of the AWACS and crew. The plane...good, it was an important part of the armed forces who are currently controlled by a very dangerous regime. The crew, everyone is someones loved one and therefore under whatever cir...

Re: arrested by police

Got to agree that if I were on my own land in the dead of night and a helicopter especially one blacked out, were suddenly to appear to hover just a few tens of feet above me, I would certainly be very likely to shine a torch at it....that is of course assuming that low flying aircraft were not a re...

Re: Best Airshow Commentator!

All I will say on the matter is, Hats off to any of the guys that do it. It is not as easy as some may think..having had to do it for all of about 5mins....I have total respect for all that do it! I have to say my favourite is Sean Moffat, his voice will always remind me of so many wonderful times.

Re: Wings & Wheels Turweston

It was a very nice day, it transpires there was a comms problem, hence the reason 558 was seen to be holding over Silverstone and only had time for one pass. Despite this people seemed generally very pleased just to have seen the aircraft, even if they would have liked to see more. It was great to m...

Re: BAE axe Jobs in Lancashire

It will be interesting to see what becomes of the place...sadly I suspect it may well be built upon, at which point the plague of nimbys who descended upon the area from the early 80s onward will really have something to moan about....they could build a hell of alot of chav flats on that site, not t...

Re: Southport Airshow 2009 - Sep 26th/27th

To avoid confusion Sonic was refering to someone visiting Southport on Thursday to discuss sponsorship for the Vulcan display. 558 is NOT visiting Southport on Thursday, and WONT be at the show unless we can secure funding for an appearance..however we are doing our upmost to do just that. Should an...

Re: THE Duxford Airshow

Regarding the Vulcan not being at Duxford, I can confirm that It was a case of money and financing the display. Why or whether it was a case of not having the money or not wanting to pay the neccessary I dont know and therefore wont add further. In terms of availability of the aircraft, she has alre...

Re: Some news that may be of interest

Should it turn out to be an enthusiast who has gone off on a jaunt....leaving said vehicle with dodgy looking contents, he is going to be very embarrassed and well and truly bollocked most likely. Should it turn out to be something sinister then folks we have a very big problem indeed.

Re: THE Duxford Airshow

Not once has 558 been booked for Duxford this season, and though I would say so...it makes a hell of a difference to the number of attendees. As already mentioned 558 was displaying at 2 other venues, even tough it was a private event 25,000 people attended Hawarden and I believe many in the surroun...

We are all entitled to our opinions but....given all the circumstances I think it was pretty good. Ok in times gone by there have been Migs,Sukhois, Stealths, huge static parks. This year plenty of fast jets some good flying and this despite the foul weather on Sunday which contributed to the sight ...

Re: Traffic - A word of warning

I overslept and hence arrived in Fairford area about 8.30 having seen some evidence of nightmare queues I went through the country lanes and virtually drove straight into G Car park. As for leaving straight out but that was about 9pm after packing up Vulcan village. Home in Nantwich by 11 couple of ...
