Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Records. 25 Hercs (at least) in 1979 27 (?) Phantoms in 1983 ? Dakotas/C-47 or variations thereof in 1985 11 (at least) KC-135sin 1985 36 C-130s in 1994. Your first record is rather outdone by your last one isn't it? 🧐🤪 1979 was the 25th anniversary of the Herc’s first flight ; the aim had been 40 ...

I suspect that will happen for the press but can you imagine H&S executives reaction if the general public were allowed access. Put me down for a ticket.

Mach 0.88 level and 1.15 in a shallow dive - certainly seem fast if most of us were allowed to play!

Linco33 Welcome and make sure you put your seat number into the FRIAT stand spreadsheet when it appears on here. Mine is H78 if you want to say hello. On show days (Fri-Sun)you can park in any of the red, blue or green carparks; blue is the one at the centre of the showground and is the one to use f...

IIRC (and only done FRIAT every time since 1983) the daily movements sheet are limited to FRIAT and not to the public. Its the checklists which are available from stalls in the showground.

Anyway, sure it will work out, it usually does.

My download has a single bar code and single qr code, so presumably for all six days. It’s being printed and laminated as I don’t get downloads to 📲.

Really hope we get usual passes in the post.

Re: Handley Page Halifax at YAM; A Closer Look...

Thanks Blue 2 - she looks ready to push the starter buttons and go. Having been inside a Lancaster your photos give the impression the Halifax is more roomy but I suspect that that is just photo perspective. is the "couch" underneath the upper escape hatch an accurate fitting or did you ju...

Re: Epping Ongar Railway

Always got a soft spot for a GWR loco and found this interesting. No 2999 ‘Lady of Legend’ is a recreation of the Saint Class locomotive. The gap in the ‘line of succession’ created by the absence of a Saint in the GWS collection was identified early in the Society’s history and the Centre has long ...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Not uncommon. DBH have a clear policy not to confirm attendance until all the documentation is complete, despite self confirms and internet information. I assume in the same way, while they invite and then talk to many potential participants, they don’t confirm the decline until they have a firm and...

At last a positive for Brexit and our less than environmentally friendly PM?

Seriously, I believe there's a similar issue for historic steam engines with the high quality coal they need no longer being mined.
