Re: Marham Query
Marham is not the easiest base to spot at with the main road having few pull offs and being busy. We don’t have many F-35s and some of those are busy on the carriers; I have also read that a significant amount of pilot training, even a majority, is done on a simulator rather than in the air. Keep an...

Re: Doncaster Sheffield Airport,lease signed!
Motormouser,
Can I ask if you are quoting a press release or if you personally have been involved/instrumental in this development. Either way, having flown from that airport, I hope it works out.

Were all seven “just” flying straight and level?
Remember when the RAF did trials where a Lightning (EE) was tasked against a Spitfire; not so easy due to the disparity in speed.

Re: FRIAT 2024
On Friday the aircraft in red and blue areas are in place so you can walk to FRIAT from the car parks. Green zone is still live so to get from the green car park you use the internal shuttle bus. On Monday FRIAT run a walking bus across from blue gate only to get into the stand. Morning is ok becaus...

Re: FRIAT 2024
A few thoughts. You might manage to get a taxi to drop you off at either of the P&Vs but might find it hard to get a guaranteed return. As for show days I think, but might be very wrong, that there is a drop off point at yellow gate, but no parking and the one way system is in place for the retu...

Re: RIAT ATC
If we get Phantoms can you arrange for the French to refuse them airspace on departure day - it was great to get them in the circuit and see the break and land (having not been there when Spooky arrived.)

Have a look at the FRIAT 2023 seating plan thread in this discussion area; should be clear from the info there.

Re: Science Museum Wroughton
I visited the Science Museum site at Wroughton 20 years ago (maybe longer). In terms of a/c the Constellation, Boeing 247 and raspberry ripple Gnat are worth visiting for but I also remember experimental cars and all sorts of bits and pieces. Definite visit if in the area.

Re: Duxford Diary 2024
IWM have officially announced the permanent closure of the Land Warfare Hall: https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford/transforming Has anyone come across a potential date for the LWH closure? The three hangars are over 100 years old. Work has already been done on the roof of H5 and all three are ...

Hi Berf - thanks for the heads up about ZZ Top - got our tickets for Wembley today. I hadn't noticed they were in the UK. I saw Pendragon a decade ago but listen to them a lot at the gym. A real shame they do only one gig a year in the UK - this year its in Peterborough (near me) but its a two night...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
I’m sure a quiet nod to it would be appropriate, but I can’t really see a lineup of C-47s and DC-3s. Plus that would possibly impact space requirements for modern military stuff, too. Tommy, I know you're a young whipper snapper who never got to see the mega line ups of KC-135s and (not and/or!) C-...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Given you had a problem with getting in last year in the public queue I'd recommend FRIAT as it has a fast track entrance facility at Blue which gives a dedicated gate close to the public entrance. This is open from public gates open to either 9 or 9.30 on Saturday and Sunday. My usual plan is to ar...

Re: Accident at Haneda
I think there is a strong argument, that charging for hold luggage, pushed people into taking carry on instead, those people then realised how much easier it is to carry on, so, even if was free they'd still carry on. As the passengers ability to follow a simple instruction proved -i.e. Don't stop ...
