Re: Another tragic story re gun control in USA

Well said PB. I am wondering why the mods haven’t already acted because Finningleyboy and ItR were banned/suspended for much less drivel.

Perfectly sensible to visit the USA for the a/c museums and amazing scenery; just don't talk politics, especially with anybody wearing a gun!

Vandal, we need somebody with access to a very old bottle of wine and whiskey to check the measurements given on the label for pre-metric.

And to really confuse matters a spirit measure in England is different to that in Scotland- 1/6 gill v. 1/5 gill.

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?

Get rid of decimal coinage as well; 4 farthings to a penny, 12 pennies to a shilling and 20 shillings to a pound (and 1 pound and 1 shilling to a guinea). 16 ounces to a pound and 14 pounds to a stone - or was it the other way round? Furlongs, chains and firkins - no wonder children's mental maths w...

Volunteers have been told to use the far west gate by land warfare so i’m Not sure about public parking.
I’ll be in my red volunteer fleece tomorrow and wearing a bright orange baseball cap courtesy of Dassault so if you see me about please say hello.

Tommy, is it really a surprise that BJ is potentially putting democracy in conflict with his executive; but when has Raab done anything satisfactorily (or in Ofsted education terms "requires improvement)?

Pete, get over to Britmodeller and you will find out a lot more about Micro-Mir kits. From what I have heard the V-bombers and the Beverley are good kits as long as you put some work into them. This on the Beverly might help you judge the standard. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topi...

Re: Insulate Britain

BBC news today.
In the 1980s there were eight days a year when the temperature hit 50 degrees centigrade somewhere on the planet; now we are into the mid-20s. Whether an inconvenient protest or a news report is better at getting the seriousness of that fact across is a moot point.

Re: Insulate Britain

It would not surprise me if any of the current high-profile climate change protest groups were also full of operators, trying to discredit them from within. Protests like yesterdays are almost designed to have a negative effect. Cynical, me? Remember this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_undercove...

Re: Insulate Britain

Road blockages tend to get the protesters want they want in France. Seriously though, a report on R4 this morning said that close to 50% of young people (i.e. under 18) were really depressed about the future of the planet and felt that mankind was doomed. Given the levels of climate change and plant...

Can't get on an internal UK flight without photo ID. Are they scrapping that as well? I don’t know, but for one thing, I’m not aware of any government requirement that mandates a photo ID for internal air travel. If it’s the airline company policy, then that’s the company’s policy, not a government...

On the wireless.

I'm listening to, and learning from, this drama documentary about the Nuremberg War Trials on BBC Sounds - 16x20 minute episodes. Well written, well characterised and the pictures are better than anything on the moving wall paper box.

I had a run in with a total maskzi at Costco today (first one since all this started). Total jobsworth. Definite Traffic Warden material. Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The decision smacks of being political not scientific. There are a number of Tory MPs very unhappy with BJ about these passports, the National Insurance hike has gone down badly many Tory MPs and the Daily Telegraph is being highly critical of the BJ executive. How are we going to prove double vacci...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

For heaven's sake (could have been much stronger). Yet another u-turn from BJ. Vaccine passports will now not be needed for nightclubs and other larger venues. So when the rest of Europe/the World is requiring one, the Brits will be allowed to blithely say "oh, we don't need them". Global Britain - ...
