Sounds like a problem on the ground floor possibly a patch lead issue. Make a note to test next year when the tower is re configured for RIAT use.

The B52 probably took off with enough fuel to divert to Burpleson AB so he now has to burn off fuel to get down to landing weight.

Re: Weather watch 23
This is what I use for weather prediction .https://www.weathercharts.org/ukmomslp.htm
The 48 hour chart is about as far ahead to be reliable . Guessing where the lows and highs will be a week away is impossible except when a big high pressure area is over the UK.

Re: Nellis airshow
Well its free which is one good thing and it very rarely rains. Last year was a bit thin on the static compared with RIAT I suspect the directive from the top to be more "green" in the military stopped some units from sending aircraft B52s etc. The flying follows a standard pattern 2 or 3 ...

I think the hottest was 1989 or 1991 when the static was about 2 miles long with an endless line of KC135s . The hottest spot was in a staff feeder provided by the RAF . The poor guys doing the cooking were in full chefs outfits and working over large cooking ranges. They looked more cooked than the...

Re: Possible format for RIAT2021
I suspect RIAT 2019 was the last ever. Changes on the base and no doubt new senior USAF commanders who have not seen how the show fits with their ops. This Covid thing could not have come at a worse time. Hope I am wrong but I have a bad feeling about this.

IAT/RIAT has a history of being lucky . Remember the Migs that could have been a disaster . The B2/F117 that had been printed on the Program that came good 2 weeks before the show. The rained off year they got away with the Royal bit within 2 minutes of a rain storm. I am starting to get the feeling...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
The insurance companies would be more than sad they might not pay up . RIAT might just be lucky if the peak is in mid May and the downward slope is steep. The ticket sales must be very slow now and will stop when things get really bad so they would have to reinstate sales on the gate to get a decent...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
The show organisers are in a difficult position with this issue, they will be committing big money any time now for services and equipment, so I think cancellations will be announced soon . I worry that if RIAT misses a year or two it may go the way of Air Fete.

Back in the 70s I used to read the ATIS into a recording machine every 30 minutes at Manchester. It got a bit boring so I used to make it sound like football results eg weather nil, cloud 4------octas etc .

This show was doomed from the start . It was too far from DBH and it was just a couple of months after RIAT . I remember prior to the RIAT Cottesmore move, Finningley was looked at as an alternate to Fairford which was closing for resurfacing etc. It was rejected as being too far north for the spons...
