Re: Syria - No Fly Zone
No we're not protecting civilians, well done. We are getting rid of Gadaffi, and thats all it's about. If it was oil, then doing nothing would have led to the oil being available by now, as the rebels would have been crushed. That reason doesn't exists in the case of Syria, and it suits the american...

Re: Syria - No Fly Zone
The difference is that Gadaffi had annoyed everyone, not just the septics and us, but the Arab League and most of Africa as well. Syria has just annoyed the Americans and Israelis. Any attempt to get involved wouldn't have stood much chance before Libya, and even less as a result of it. Oil doesn't ...

Re: Non slip paint - clue to Harrier return?
if nothing else Lusty could be just be being prepared with the cross decking of USMC, Spanish or Italian AV8B's in mind.
Or maybe it's because it stops helicopters slipping about and is also on Ocean, and most small ships flight decks.

Re: Syria - No Fly Zone
It's simple. While the Syrians are battering each other, they are leaving the Israelis alone. Who's Israels sponsor? You have your answer.

You could also try keeping it away from anything above 450mm. It's not the sharpest tool in the box above that.

Re: Auto or Manual Focus
I think you should look at why you aren't getting sharp photos with the AF to start with. The system isn't perfect, but in general it's far better than manual focusing. It also helps if you understand how it works, which is on contrast. So a gray plane against a gray sky is going to present some pro...

Re: Non slip paint - clue to Harrier return?
I think people are grasping at straws in hope rather than facing reality. The chances of Harrier returning are nil. The simple fact is that the UK's managing, 3 separate deployments. It may not leave much room for anything else but nothing so far is deviating from the contingency plans mentioned in ...

LN Strike Eagle but people still get hit with that same response after the airshows too. Yes, they do, because people can't accept it's horses for courses. I wouldn't pay money to go and see the thuderturds for example, I do accept that others think they are wonderful. What I want to see may not be ...

Re: The Day Riat Died?
I don't understand this argument that is often thrown back at people on here. If you go to a cinema and you don't like the film, are you ever told to "try yourself and do better?" What about a restaurant if you don't like the food? Ever complained about the service from a shop or website?...

Re: UN approves No Fly zone over Libya
It'd be interesting and useful to know what proportion of Libya is on which side. If the press coverage and common sense is used, then it seems that it's not a majority for the Rebel side. As far as that effects an end game, it becomes a very dangerous path to tread. The UN is not there to dictate o...

Re: FSTA (Voyager) arrives in the UK for the first time
The trouble this new toy is it's not theirs, it belongs to Air tanker. A group set up to fleece the tax payer in a way that BAE could only ever dream of. No doubt they'd love to show it off to the public, and will be only too happy to allow it to do so for a huge amount of extra money. At least the ...

Re: Tornado to get urgent upgrade
Cost will be a fixed price except for the delay costs caused by the late delivery of the airframes from MOD approximately £ 3m Real cost to BAE, £0. But the tax payer will cough up. Possibility of BAE paying penalty for late return of aircraft to customer after they find they can't really do what t...

Re: The alternate use for the M1? and JFK accident video footage
I think there's a difference between designed and intended for and could be if required. I don't think any part of the UK road network was designed with it in mind. Obviously there are some bits that could have been. At school in the Fatherland in the 70's, we had a talk from the RAFG Harrier Force,...

Besides, isn't mutiny still technically a capital offence? That's not the same as to breaking point. So no different from th...

FB No, what I'm doing is pointing out that a press report is not the word of God. Usually, it's far from it. I don't have an agenda on the subject, so I am hardly trying to use a newspaper article (thats unproven) to support anything. Just pointing out that the real world is different from what you ...

FB If the press say something negative about aviation, then the daggers are instantly out pointing out how wrong they are. When it's something that suits a different argument though, suddenly, they are the oracle of truth. If NATO is pressuring, why are they not doing so to every other Country to do...

Re: A bit of a splash
Jonesy. No, the focus was done before it all started, by using a pen held in the middle of the glass. The softness is caused by the strawberry not going straight down the middle and or movement. Using flash on a 50D you are limited to 1/250 as the max sync speed. Use more than that and you'll get th...
