I've had a look at extenders but for the price they're going for I'm not sure it's worth it for just one or two shows this year.

I've looked at hiring lenses before, but I can't be certain that I'll be able to afford it. As a last resort I may well be able to do it, but in the event that I'm not, it'd be nice to know that I'll be able to take a few photos with my current kit.
