Cosby 09/09/2012
Second show of the year for me, and with it being only a few miles down the road, it'd be rude not to make an appearance. Slightly disappointing change to the display line (which seemed to be at a very bizarre 45 degree angle?!) as the action was a LOT closer in previous years, so we can only hope t...

Probably the nice lighting from the piano keys!
Good set mate. Tornado + smoke has to be my favourite.

RAF Waddington 29-30/06/2012
Spent Friday and Saturday at Waddington, on my first outing in nearly two years! Had to borrow a basic Tamron 70-300mm lens seeing as I flogged my 400mm, which meant a lot of photos weren't the best quality, but it was better than nothing! Hopefully what I did get is alright... Thanks to Iain for th...

Re: Shooting with 200mm
I've had a look at extenders but for the price they're going for I'm not sure it's worth it for just one or two shows this year.

Re: Shooting with 200mm
I've looked at hiring lenses before, but I can't be certain that I'll be able to afford it. As a last resort I may well be able to do it, but in the event that I'm not, it'd be nice to know that I'll be able to take a few photos with my current kit.

Shooting with 200mm
Hello everyone, it's been a while! Last posted on here about 2 years ago now, and the last show I attended was RIAT 2010. For a good number of reasons I became thoroughly pissed off with this whole 'following aeroplanes' thingy and as such, I haven't fired my shutter in anger for a long time now (on...

If you can find enough people willing to extend their already lengthy shift to organise and supervise it all. I know I'd probably be trying to get as much sleep as possible, ready for Saturday!

Well if you want them to improve it, you might want to mention what you actually think is wrong with it.

Re: Flares at RIAT
AdamN: As I said, I don't care about the flares. Regulations are what they are. There may be ways around this, but it would involve inconceivable cost and effort, I can accept that. How to allocate budgets and manpower is a business decision (you're not going to build the specialist storage install...

Re: Flares at RIAT
I don't feel like this is aimed at me because I am neither FRIAT nor do I care particularly about flares, except that I like to know whether they will use them or not (forewarned is forearmed, that sort of thing), but I will say to this argument that FRIAT is targetted at photographers / videograph...

Re: Flares at RIAT
Chrisse - It's not a case of a "loss of the can do spirit" (which exists in spades in areas not immediately apparent to you) its a case of there being no location available on the airfield that can be licensed for flares given what is already on the airfield and in the immediate surroundi...

Re: Riat park and view comments and reviews please
It would be good if the pilots could be reminded of the west P + V. Too much was too high (don't get me started on the vertical Tiffy take-off!!!! ) too soon. Have to disagree here. Barring one or two obvious exceptions - one of the Mirages, the Typhoon, and a chunk of the helicopters, most of the ...

Not if his camera did what mine did, and focused on the trees in the background instead.
A good set, Dean. Did a lot better with the KC-10 and P-3 than I did!

An unbelievably expensive RIAT, thanks to the joys of public transport and the thieving bastards that are Network Rail. A quick review of my photos suggests that many have come out nice and soft, too. So all in all, a bit annoying, but I've picked out a few for an equally quick edit. 1 http://farm5....

Re: arrivals 2010?
One thing, why has one of the mirages parked live side? I have reason to believe it may be taking part in the BoB flypast Would be nice. Starting to think that RIAT has deliberately held back some info regarding participants, to create a few surprises for us this week (good thing, too, as I'm enjoy...

I can't imagine they'll be allowed to sit on the runway for 20 mins during the actual display. At least I bloody well hope not!
