According to FC one of the helicopters was a Turkmenistan government S-92 which is here for maintenance and spent an hour at Duxford. There were 4 two ships of AH64's which flew eastbound along the Thames yesterday morning en route Middle Wallop to Wattisham between about 1040 and 1130 ish. The Tur...

First one for me was the Hawker Siddeley family day at Dunsfold in 1969...I was 9 years old at the time..An uncle who worked at the Kingston HS factory took myself and my brother down there for a day out.I don't remember a huge amount about it apart from a Harrier GR1 flying but the bug bit seeing t...

An "aviation park" is shown in the plans for Dunsfold on the runway line which is meant to honour the site's aviation past...however a 747 would be stretching that idea to say the least !

Trump could pardon himself before he leaves the presidency. No doubt he will pardon his family members and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani. Pardons can cover conduct that has not yet resulted in legal proceedings. Apparently the pardons are limited to federal crimes. I expect that he will issue m...

Trump shot himself in the foot with regard to postal votes by questioning their legitimacy months ago, ergo the majority of his supporters chose not to vote by post and went to the polling booth instead. This was always Trump's plan. Cast doubt about the validity of postal votes, make people questi...

Old times might remember how Neil Kinnock gained plaudits and set the way for (New) Labour to be elected by taking on Militant. By taking on the extreme wing of the Labour party in this way, Starmer is showing exactly the type of leadership that is required for a national, encompassing leader. That...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
Looking at the OS map there are less than 2 sq km between the runway and the former canal (which is slowly being restored) so not a lot of room There's not a lot of viable land North of the airfield either because of a fairly large farm (on a hill) so I imagine the whole site will be flattened As p...

Unless it's been shelved there is a proposal to turn all of Dunsfold into a new village (whatever a village constitutes in terms of 1000s of houses) complete with a canal basin so it won't be a permanent home but thanks for the heads-up I'll try to see it! Was looking at the plans earlier. for Duns...

There is still one complete Conway powered 707 airframe still in existence in Europe with ex EL Al series 458 aircraft 4X-ATB painted in fading period Lufthansa scheme as "D-ABOC" tucked away in a remote corner of the soon to close Berlin Tegel Airport. There is (or was recently) one in Hamburg as ...

Tend to agree but I doubt the only reason G-CIVB was chosen was its livery. They have a Concorde in Chatham livery although not that accessible at the moment. There are BEA / BOAC / Landor liveries at Duxford IIRC There is one historically accurate Negus aircraft already in preservation, and an ina...

Re: President Trump
It’s probably not even worth this much nuance, but the Trump 2020 campaign is entirely predicated in “sleepy Joe” not being able to string a sentence together. And Trump sort of, completely of his own volition, torpedoed that: https://twitter.com/keejayov2/status/1296548895187763203?s=21 Trump real...

The care home situation has been one of horrible irony. Keeping people 'at home' is an understandable step to take during a pandemic, but when you're elderly and share your home with dozens of others, some of whom have had positive Covid tests, its just horrendous. Understandably, at the beginning ...

Re: Edward Colston statue removal, your views.
I love the ‘where does it stop, do we burn the city to the ground?’ Argument. To me it’s very simple. We do what we can to show that glorifying this part of our history is wrong. Removing a statue (that the people of Bristol have been trying to remove for years) is very different to burning a schoo...
