A sad loss to the European circuit, if only for the variety in liveries over the years! https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-10/p3684543383.jpg https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-10/p3684543387.jpg https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-10/p3684543457.jpg https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img...

Re: Canon RF 2x Extender
I use the 2x mk3 infrequently on a 300mm 2.8 mk2. It’s certainly softer than the 1.4 but can produce very useable photos. Especially on the higher resolution bodies like the R7 once you’ve reduced and sharpened in post processing.

I’m considering going over for the shows in the autumn, and maybe a week in the sidewinder if anyone is up for climbing some hills?

Re: Topic of the Week #88 - Low Level
A nice trip through the low level archive for this week whilst resisting the urge to post more Greek T2 shots or more from Mollis....here's five from the 2000 or so low level fast jet pics in Lightroom... https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-10/p3500566557.jpg https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/...

Re: Interesting Internet (Historic Aviation)
The hardworking volunteers at Speke finally managed to get some air under the wheels of G-BEJD today after over a decade of being sat on her belly. Possibly the last HS-748 “flight” in the UK…

Re: Topic of the week #84 - Winter Wonderland
What a lovely variety of types and some stunning cold backdrops. Excellent entries as always, but the standout to me was Bernard’s shock cone F18. Was expecting to see some shots from Axalp, but that is something else!

Topic of the week #84 - Winter Wonderland
I’m sure many people have noticed the drop in temperatures in the last few days in the UK with some potential snow on the way in the coming weeks. Don’t think we’ve had a winter challenge for a while, so break out your icy, snowy or otherwise wintery shots. Any subject, up to 5 photos, as long as ju...

Re: Topic of the week#83 2023
Quality over quantity for me this year. 2 Major overseas shows in Italy and Switzerland, along with a few low level opportunities along the way. Absolute highlight has to be the T2: Legitimately one of the best days of the year, let alone aviation moments! https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-10/...

ZigAirMeet 23 - (Naughty) Mountain, Airshow, Emotions
Anyone who follows me on social media will probably be fed up with how much I have been singing the praises of the ZigAirmeet over the last two weeks. I think I can comfortably say it was the most enjoyable airshow I've ever been to. Obviously a large part of that is the stunning setting at Mollis, ...

Re: ZigAirMeet 2023, Mountain Airshow Action - 18/19 August
Superb set from what was probably my favourite airshow I’ve been to. The pat suisse shots are great (I assume taken from somewhere on the live side?) Also slightly jealous of the hornet shots. Frustrating that there were 2 demos on Friday when I went mountaineering, but only a couple of fast passes ...

Re: Zigermeet 2023 -18/19 August
It might take me a while to get through them all! Agree on the distance to the runway point….I don’t think I’ve ever been closer to a departing fast jet! I genuinely think if the C17 hadn’t have cancelled its wingtip would have been close to the crowd line! As a postscript to the above, I thought I’...

Re: Zigermeet 2023 -18/19 August
What a couple of days…not sure if anyone else went from the forums, but I can safely say that Mollis is the most picturesque airshow venue I have ever attended. I thoroughly enjoyed every act: even what I would normally class as filler (the Pitt’s for example) was flown excellently, and in that sett...

Forza Italia!
I spent an enjoyable (if hot) two and half days in the vicinity of Pratica Di Mare last weekend for the superb 100th Anniversary show of the Italian Air Force. Apologies for the volume of photos, but they were reduced down from the 3500 I took! 1. https://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-10/p18336998...

I didn’t realise there was a spotter’s day…thought it was media and schools only…
Not complaining…..will give me a good opportunity to try out my naughty terrace. Do we know if the flying programme for Friday is the same as the weekend?

Misty Merlins on Dartmoor
Despite living in the South West for some reason I had never ventured down to Dartmoor for the annual Ten Tors event. This year I decided to rectify this and spent an enjoyable day watching the comings and goings of a pair of 845 NAS Jungly Merlins as they moved equipment up to the Tors. It started ...

Re: Canon R7 hints and tips please
I’ve had the R7 for a couple of months now coming from a 7D2. To address your points: 1. I’ve got two back button focus options set up. Normal BBF is standard single point AF with no intelligent tracking modes. I’ve also set up the * button to start eye detect AF (as I shoot a lot of wildlife). I’ve...

Re: Italian Air Force 100th Anniversary Airshow 2023
AirBnB booked in zingarini on the coast…even has a roof terrace. I wonder whether I’ll get a good view of the flying display! I love the idea of limiting the show to current and historic types. The SwissAF anniversary section of Air14 at Payerne is still one of the best thematic airshow set pieces I...

Sidewinder Low Level - October 22
Spent a week hunting low level jets in California prior to the Edwards show with mixed success. It was very quiet, especially on the day that I hiked 2 hours each way to find a spot where the light wasn't awful! Still happy with a few of the shots...quite a lot actually! 1 https://mictheslik.zenfoli...

Re: Edwards AFB Airshow 2022
I think the F18 was a recently acquired NASA jet as it had an N reg.
I agree though, a decent show but maybe not up to the hype.
