Re: RIAT Arrivals… LIVE! 2022
With no airshows at all in Scotland this year, this is about as close as I'm likely to get.
To everyone going - hope you all have a brilliant time.
Thanks to all involved.

Is there a virtual Edinburgh Fringe then? We might get virtual fireworks to bring that to a close.

Re: Red Arrows flypast of Edinburgh as part of VJ Day
Was up on Corstorphine Hill, you should have heard the disappointment when they found out Flypast was cancelled, Thanks to a young guy with a Scanner. Still gutted. Just one of those things. We should be used to it. August wouldn't be August if there wasn't at least one flypast cancelled (think Mil...

Re: Red Arrows flypast of Edinburgh as part of VJ Day
Still not seen a NOTAM for the flight to Prestwick - via Edinburgh?
Don't mean for that to sound like
no one's (forum member) published said info - rather that I cannot seem to find one. Checked the NOTAM website, but don't see it.

No mention of Edinburgh in that NOTAM.
Makes it look like their 'UK Tour' is starting at Prestwick & taking in Belfast & Cardiff only.

Nice. It's scary when you're completely away from any ambient light & you see just how many stars show up in your pictures. Any luck catching / tracking Comet NEOWISE? We went out last night in an attempt to catch it ourselves, but no joy. Saw what we believed to be the ISS though, so not a wast...

No Tattoo Flypasts
As the title says, due to Covid 19, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which is always well supported by the RAF, is not going ahead this year.

Re: Fighter Pilot: The Real Top Gun
Mentioning the "Dambusters" and showing a clip of American bombers over the Hoover Dam. (Maybe it was the Hollywood version). I thought that was meant to show that one Bouncing Bomb would form the equivalent of ordinance that the amount of planes on the clip would have to drop to breach y...

Re: Scotland's National Airshow 2019 (East Fortune)
Although the rained stopped at East Fortune by midday it continued to rain at Cumbernauld associated with low cloud which precluded the aircraft there getting out. Some are still stuck there as of Monday afternoon! Would this explain why I saw a pair of Chipmunks in formation overhead North Berwick...

Re: Scotland's National Airshow 2019 (East Fortune)
The Typhoon tried but was unable to become visual at 1000ft. Did you not hear go overhead? I said 'we heard that', the pilot reply 'I hoped you would'. We heard him, you'd have to have been deaf not to. After he passed over, it sounded like he lit the burners, definitely got louder, but sadly faded...

Re: Sunderland airshow 2019
So what was able to display today? Bronco, Chinook and Wildcat completed their displays. The Blades started their routine but aborted mid way through due to low cloud. Typhoon performed 1 pass then RTB. Everything else didn’t takeoff. East Fortune had similar woes at the hands of the weather too, b...

Re: Scotland's National Airshow 2019 (East Fortune)
Other than the Wildcat, all aircraft that displayed at East Fortune today operated from Edinburgh. Weather (again ) preventing anything coming North from Newcastle. In a repeat of 2017, Typhoon could be heard overhead but not seen due to the low cloud which pretty much covered most of the area. Beli...

Read in the Sunderland thread that the T-33 has cancelled due to no pilot availability, and can't see it listed on East Fortune's page.
That, and the Met Office website forecasting rain.

Re: HMS Queen Elizabeth captain removed from post
I think there might be a difference in cost between taking Ford Galaxy to the shops while paying for your own fuel and taking the Navy's largest vessel on a jolly. There have been many "training " flights that have oddly enough ended up at an airfield close to a pilot's home. Is that not ...

Good that this is getting mainstream coverage.
