" the AW169/AW139/AW1[4/8]9 are all effectively in service in both military, civilian, and quasi-military roles like coastguard, firefighting, police, anti-smuggling ops etc " The listed types are all successful and provided good service. Is the UK MOD problem that these types have been pr...

Re: Air Shows 2024

SVAS membership should be seen firstly as a way of supporting an important collection of British aviation and automotive history. A collection started by one man Richard Shuttleworth, proudly supported by his mother, following Richards death in a flight training acident during WW2. Benefits of membe...

Re: Duxford Diary 2024

IWM Duxford was considered full many years ago when it did not apply for a Nimrod or C-130 when retired from RAF service, reasons given at the times were no under cover storage. Now ten years on they still have no more storage despite a large area at the end of Air Space hangar used for temporary di...

You dont say if your local or visiting from further afield but I assume Duxford will be open as usual.

Anybody have information on the proposed water landing of Miss Pick Up on Grafham Water this weekend ?
Remember reading about a possible air to air photo shoot from a Skyvan operating out of Sywell.

Re: NavyWings - News and Updates

IIRC one of the reasons for grounding the Sea Hawk several years ago was the jet pipe had failed and potentially heat damaged the rear fuselage ? Assume that has been rectified or was not a problem.

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Leeds East/Church Fenton

A dozen Spitfires listed so far (excluding whatever the BBMF intend sending), must be the largest Spitfire count in the north of England since they were in service! The airfield at Church Fenton is looking really great, there's a new grass strip parallel to the main asphalt runway, original taxiway...

Dont worry about Italian organisation, tickets or QR codes, I doubt they will bother looking at any tickets on the gate. Parking will be a free for all, but that is what the Italians expect so they will not be worried by it. Sadly I will not be going but hope the two days work out and there is a goo...

Would make sense for the Coronation Day to be a simple affair with no flypast. Then later in the year a RAF Coronation review combined with the issuing of new squadron colours. Expect Army and Royal Navy would have similar events.
