Re: The Jet Provost that nobody likes!

I don't mind it one bit - we have an all black L-29 Delfin adorned with the owners business logo at my local, not easy to photograph but it looks and sounds great.

In addition he has been trying to get free volunteer labour from the museum sector to help in the dismantling/reassembly process, and indeed approached the RAF with the attitude he was doing them a favour offering them a training opportunity for the Chinook force. He's a cheeky bugger, right enough...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

Condor Aviation, they have a small maintenance facility on the edge of what was once RAF Riccall in North Yorkshire. One of their previous projects was featured on George Clark's Amazing Spaces, or one of his offshoot progs, a few years ago (sound of mind whirring...!). I read online that they were ...

Really like the river/bridge backdrop on some of these piccies. They called in to Leeds East Airport (former RAF Church Fenton in North Yorkshire) for fuel on the way up too.

Re: ML407 - who is being accused of lieing? Johnnie Houlton himself or the current operators? Curious accusation to make given all the published accounts, including Houlton's own book ‘Spitfire Strikes’.

Re: RAF Syerston - planned Red Arrows displays this month

Maybe a series of displays planned for later in the year in various locations as a pick me up (pending lockdown restriction lifting?). They certainly won't have any airshows to bother doing a PDA for, and I presume you can't do it in advance of 2021 this early can you? Imminent PDA also mentioned o...

Re: Social Distance Spotting

I spend some time near Leeds (though not at the moment) during the course of the year with family. Is it worth a 40 min drive to spend some taking photos when I'm next there - whenever that may be. Andy Movements at LEA can be a bit hit and miss, they're still waiting for GNSS approval so most curr...

Re: Social Distance Spotting

My local airfield (Leeds East AIrport/RAF Church Fenton - depending on your vintage) is just across the road so, aside from there being much less aircraft activity than usual and no access to the airfield itself, nothing has really changed for me. I've seen the L-29 Delfin and PC12, numerous helicop...

G-DLFN hasn't left Leeds East for North Weald today as far as I know (not heard it anyway, and trust me I normally would!) and runway 06/24 is now closed for a music festival until Monday

There's an L-29 currently based at Leeds East Airport (the former RAF Church Fenton) - unsure if it is available for airshows just yet but they have flown aerobatics with it at Church Fenton (and Elvington).

Re: Fatal crash at/near Hardwick Airfield

Very sad for all concerned. (I have to say that in my experience wearing a bonedome in the Mustang jumpseat would be nigh-on impossible, there simply isn't the headroom, but there may well be other less-bulky head protection available. I believe the TF-51's have larger canopies which likely would af...

Having been in the UK for almost 40 years I guess it was probably one of TFC's first warbirds - had the joy of sitting in the cockpit when I won a Friends of TFC competition back in the '80's - alas didn't get to fly in it but many FOTFC prize winners did.
