Re: Flying Legends 2021 - 10th & 11th July at Sywell (Merged)

I was looking at the Google Earth images, which are dated 31 May this year, and runway 14/32 is clearly marked out on the grass. The runway is also listed on the Sywell Aerodrome webpage and airfield layout plans. But yes, I was suggesting it as the display line, rather than the active runway. Yes....

Re: Flying Legends 2021 - 10th & 11th July at Sywell (Merged)

Looking at Google maps landscape view it appears runway 14/32 no longer exists. However, possibly you could still use the hard runway and the strip beside it for landings and take offs but use the old runway 14/32 area for the display datum. The space available at the very closest point to the datum...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Just occurred to me that whilst the open space at the show may not have implications re the new rules of six, it could affect the spectator enclosures so may have a bearing on whatever decision has been made and to be announced later in the morning.

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Presume the straw clutchers on here are ticket holders? Who will seriously want to mix with 14999 others at DX in 10 days? Not I. And I love airshows. Nobody is clutching at straws but people are still jumping the gun. If Duxford does not go ahead, the tickets will almost certainly be held over to ...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Jumping the gun. There is nothing in the briefing stating all outdoor gatherings are banned. It states that hospitality venues can still go ahead as an exemption in a covid secure enviroment but you cannot mix in a group of any more of six within it, be that your family or support bubble, inside or ...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Apparently the number of infections in Cambridge is now 11.2, down from 16.8 per 100,000 of population. I do not know if this is representative of the rest of the area but considering some people will be travelling from further away from higher risk areas, under the current general trend in coronavi...

Re: Vintage Air Day Sun 6th Sep

Another excellent and well organised display. We arrived at about 8 am and was parked at the very front and despite three biplanes being in front of us, due to all the aircraft ground movements during the day, we still got a good view of aircraft landing and taking off. I could see that just before ...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Interesting how it will pan out at the eastern end of the airfield. My take on this is that whilst the tank bank will be open, they only mention that the fence at the eastern end will be pushed out so I assume this will be the area leading up to the tank bank before you reach the land warfare hall ...

Re: Air Legend 2020, Melun - 12-13 Sept

I will not be going to his show now. Over the last few weeks I have been looking closely at the French Covid figures and fully expected expected the UK to reimpose 14 day quarantine measures against people coming or returning to France. The position looked so good a few weeks ago and it was with som...

Re: Air Legend 2020, Melun - 12-13 Sept

As a word of warning, all mass gatherings in France of over 5000 people, originally penned in to be able to go ahead from 01-09-2020, has now been delayed to 01-10-2020. The above info is from the BBC web site today. This may well affect the ability of Melun-Villaroche to go ahead. The position of t...

Old Warden Shuttleworth Drive-In Show 02-08-2020

Another great show organised by The Shuttleworth Collection, superb displays by the pilots backed up by all the volunteers on the day. I arrived at about 9.40am forgetting to check that the gates opened at 11am, not 10pm. Initially, I wanted to time my arrival to make it more likely that a will be p...

Old Warden Drive In Show 18-07-2020

The 5m x 5m area will be interesting. My car is 4.9m long. Hopefully parked near some shorter cars.... That is just the space occupied by the car including open doors. It does not include the space that will be available to the occupants beside their car. If it was, that will be akin to normal park...
