Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I

Hi guys, Here is my latest completion - the new tool Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I I've used Xtradecal for the 92 Sqn markings and an Eduard "look" set for the resin instrument panel and the seat belts. Painted with MRP Lacquers and weathered with Ammo of MIG panel line washes and AK interacti...

Eduard 1/48 Spitfire XVIe

Saving a Spitfire that’d shamefully spent about a year on the shelf of doom as the canopy windshield got paint on the inside. The Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XVIe, weekend kit, with markings for a 1949 Cooper Air Race aircraft. The exhaust stain got a bit out of hand but had to stick with it. MRP lacque...

Grea looking model, Derek.
Indeed they're getting sought after and seem to change hands for silly money.
Maybe Airfix will reissue like they did with the Lightning F.1 kit a while ago and soon the Sea Vixen .

Re: 1/72 Airfix Junkers Ju 87B-1 Stuka

This looks great, Shaun. Very neat build - flawless in fact. Interested in the Windsor and Newton matt varnish - do you apply any weathering on top of that? Asking as I use Vallejo matt at the moment but I find if I want to use white spirit with oils on top of that (after letting it drt for at least...

Re: Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Mk.I - Complete

Hi 308922, The paints I used are in the first post (RTFM?) but I didn’t include the codes - could remember off the top of my head but that should be enough to find them. Weathering was done with oil paints - various shades of Windsor and newton thinned with white spirit. Mostly Payne’s grey and burn...

Re: 1/48 Airfix P-51D Mustang "Missouri Armada"

Thanks for the replies guys Geoff, the kit is excellent in the main. Detail level superb but a couple minor fit issues I needed to work on. Nothing show-stopping and I’d build another. But will probably wait to see how Eduard’s kit comes out. Dan, I’m using a light tent with some remotely triggered ...

1/48 Airfix P-51D Mustang "Missouri Armada"

Hi all, Here's a few pics of my latest completion - the new tool Airfix Mustang, which I've used a Superscale sheet for. Painted with MRP and weathered with oils - for the panel line wash and blended in to the rest of the model too. Also used some pigments for a bit more weathering, and paint chippi...

Hi all, Long time no post! Sorry about that! I've been getting a bit of "bench time" in recently and have finished a couple models. First being the Airfix 1/48 Tomahawk: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4757/25495439037_a59cc17042_b.jpg Airfix 1/48 Tomahawk Mk.IIA by Phil Jones , on Flickr h...

An Evening With Navy Wings

Hi all, Here's a couple from last night's superb night shoot at RNAS Yeovilton, organised by Threshold.aero and Navy Wings. The aircraft looked stunning under the lights and I would love to attend another event like it in the future if such an opportunity arose! Thanks to both groups for putting the...

1/48 Spitfire VIII - RAAF

Been a while but I've recently finished another model, another Spitfire - This time the Eduard 1/48 Mk.VIII. All kit items (photo etch cockpit, decals), and painted with Tamiya acrylic paints. I also started off with a bit of Alclad metallic paints before the camo colours, overcoated with hairspray ...

Re: Looking for a new camera bag

I use a Lowepro Flipside 400 which I've found to be great since buying it last Xmas, as the stitching on one of the straps of my tamrac backpack was starting to "go". Can get 2 bodies 7d/50d, in the flipside plus my 70-300L, 24-105, 10-18 lenses. Plus space for a speedlite and then good am...

Re: Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Mk.I

I finished my Hurricane a couple nights ago and took some photos... Really enjoyed building this kit in the main. The wing to fuselage joint needed a bit of fettling but that was the most problematic area (and it wasn't hugely problematic). Tried a bit more oil weathering, after flat coating, than I...
