For the number crunchers amongst you the Jap is numbered 601, it taxied right past me at Brize.
Amazing news on the Ukrainian's.

Re: BALTOPS 2017- RAF Fairford
Outstanding set Stu. So great to see all three there as you say.
I never managed to get to Fairford during the Ex, but had a B-52 and B-1 fly over Brize. Plus could hear the B-1 departure from there the next morning.

Re: MoD says 2017 'Year of the Navy'
Reported in national press that when computer software added in 2004 at time of design Windows XP was fitted and it seems to be the system still in use. So much for a modern Navy,no aircraft and a computer system out of date. US nuclear weapons force still use 1970s-era computer system and 8-inch f...

Re: MoD says 2017 'Year of the Navy'
It's remarkable that the carrier has been to sea for only a few hours and the F-35 is getting berated. Do you honestly think the sea trials for the carrier won't take years? It's the largest ship and one of the most advanced, plus unique, that the Navy has ever operated. Give it time. I said many ye...

Unless it turns up at RIAT and then everyone will take lots of pictures, as last year proved.

Re: F35A - grounded
And still they want to replace the A10 with this aircraft! Not anymore. http://www.scout.com/military/warrior/story/1661272-air-force-budget-funds-all-283-a-10-aircraft Cost and affordability will also be a very large part of the equation when it comes to making determinations about an A-10 replace...

The Super Hornet has also a similar problem recently.
Also unlike the F-22, the F-35 has a backup oxygen system.
Better safe than sorry though.

Re: What is the deal with the commentary?
The B-52 miss Dan is referring to is due to the poorly located commentary position, over which Jonathan will have had no control, but don't let that stop you trying to further your own career, Dan I wasn't there but if he failed to announce both the B-52 and B-1 flyby as it sounds, that's a pretty ...

to me filling 8 slots with near identical planes doing near identical routines just smacked of lazy programming and "well we couldn't get anything else to come to the show so here's another F-16" Yes, because there are literally countless F-16 demos around the world, lining up, desperate ...

Hard to tell from the footage of the move today, but it certainly appeared to be in a much better condition than I expected. Not that simple obviously but full credit to Cdr Hargreaves and the robust build of the airframe.

Re: USAF RC-135 ops to move to RAF Fairford
Also wasn't there a U-2 on base during RIAT in the last few years? Albeit in a hangar out of view. But that didn't seem to cause any problems.
Either way, it's got to be good news for RIAT as it make Fairford's long term future somewhat more secure.
